Which is better, UEM Kolkata or RCC Institute of Information Technology?

UEM Kolkata is a newly established college equipped with sufficient infrastructure required for student’s academic growth. Laboratories, classrooms, canteens, and every other important necessity are present to give a suitable environment for the students. In many ways UEM Kolkata is better than RCC Institute of Information Technology. Let’s pick one by one. Facilities: UEM has a huge collection of Computers in their labs. Other than computers, Electronics lab, Electrical lab, mechanical lab, Solid-state lab, earth science lab, construction engineering lab, CAD/computer Graphics lab, ED lab, Biotech lab, plant genetic engineering lab, Chemistry lab, Language lab, and many others are there to help out students getting hands-on experience. Faculties- Most of the faculties at UEM, Kolkata are either Ph.D. or are pursuing Ph.D. According to student reviews, the faculties are very helpful and co-operative. Course & Curriculum - The curriculum is not up to date but it is harder than any other colleges in West Bengal. Students have to study 2-3 extra subjects every semester. From the 3rd year onwards there are mandatory GATE preparation classes. College provides weekly holiday classes for the students preparing for competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, WBPSC. The college focuses on molding the students professionally from 1st year onwards. Presentations, projects, workshops, etc. are included in the curriculum. Exams: The questions set in the exams are really tough. Do not have the misconception that it will be easy to score good marks since it is a private institution. The practical and viva exam will grill you in every aspect. There are 3 exams per semester, i.e. two midterms, one semester, and an extra Mock Interview exam (Technical + HR) Coding Culture, Olympiads: The coding club, Codechef arranges 3/4 coding challenges each year. The institute also conducts Physics, Maths, Electronics, Bio Olympiads. Extracurricular: College does not have its own cricket ground, basketball or tennis court, etc. Although there are some indoor game facilities like table tennis, billiards. Fests: UEM, Kolkata conducts Technical Fest which is pretty decent in comparison to other colleges of West Bengal The cultural fest of UEM, Kolkata is just average. Research Opportunities: In a very short span of time, UEM, Kolkata which is a new college has published research papers in various popular journals. Still, considering the fact that the college is very new, research opportunities are less as compared to other colleges of West Bengal. RCCIIT Admissions

The admission to the B.Tech program based on a valid rank or score in WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) or JEE (Main) examination, respectively.

For M.Tech, the candidate should have got a valid score and rank in PGET (Post Graduate Entrance Test) conducted by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal or GATE exam, respectively.

For MCA, admission is on a merit basis.

RCCIIT Facilities

The RCCIIT Kolkata offers various facilities to cater to the needs of the students, staff, and faculty members. Some of these are as follows:

Library: The institute library has a rich collection of textbooks, reference books, periodicals, journals, and magazines. There are approximately 33100 volumes, 5000 books, 4720 titles, online journals, and 500 plus CD/DVD collections. The students have access to the Book Bank facility. It also keeps lab manuals and tutorial books for UG and PG students.
Journals: There are three types of Journals available in the Institute library. The Print journals include books and other printed materials and magazines issued to students, staff, and faculty. The online journals can access scholarly articles through ACM, IEEE, and Elsevier Science Direct. Apart from paid, free journals are also available.
Digital Library: The Institute allows students to access ACM Digital Library, J-Gate, and British Council Library. The online database through the digital library gives access to more than 85,000 e-books and 7,000 e-journals. The free database is accessed through NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), e-Pathshala, INFLIBNET search, World Bank Open e-data, and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).
Medical Facility: The Institute has hired a medical officer and physician. The ambulance service is also available. There is a sick room in the campus for emergency medical care.
Sports: The Institute organizes Cricket, Carrom, and Football tournaments/ competitions at the university level.
Laboratories: The Institute has well-equipped laboratories to cater to the needs of all the students from various departments. The Labs have a projector, fire safety facility, high-speed optic internet facility, and equipment to conduct lab works, projects, and research works. There is also a computer lab with 30 desktop PCs.
