New Horizon College of Engineering:
One of my friends was part of the ECE branch at New Horizon. She had a great time at the institute. The faculty, lab attendants are quite supportive. They have working faculties even on Sunday. So, if you missed any classes during the week you can catch up on that. You will have ample freedom at the lab. The labs are well-equipped with the latest instruments and computers.
Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management:
Comparably DSATM doesn’t offer such facilities. A friend of mine had to do her final projects using external resources, as the computers provided by the institute didn’t have the minimum requirements. Her project guides and her professors were not that supportive either. But in terms of placements, DSR does offer better facilities.
Here’s a brief comparison of both of these institutes.

DSATM (Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management) is a constituent college under DSU (Dayananda Sagar University)
According to my friends who are alumni of DSU, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (Kumaraswamy Layout) is the best choice under DSU rather than DSATM. Both the colleges have common placements, so it will not be a problem. Also, placement for both institutes takes place at DSCE.
The quality of education and life is better at DSCE. The facilities offered at DSCE include sports, hostels, a well-equipped library, and Yoga & Meditation by Yoga experts.
Overall, the wise choice will be DSCE under DSU.
Dayanand Sagar Institutes have multiple branches, each for a different stream of study. The three mentioned educational institutions are Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management, and Dayanand Sagar University.
Let us look at the difference between the given institutions.
Ranking:
DSCE has been ranked at 73 for Private Engineering by India Today in 2020.
DSATM is ranked at 79 for Private Engineering by India Today in 2020.
DSU is ranked 115 for MBA by Edu rank in 2020.
About the Institutes:
DSCE:
It is the main branch of DSI and the very first institute to be introduced. It is a private and autonomous college that is located in Bangalore.
It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).
Some of the most popular courses offered are BTech/BE, BArch, MBA/PGDM.
DSATM:
Dayanand Sagar Academy of Technology and Management is an autonomous institute affiliated with VTU.
It is situated in Bangalore and is popularly known for its BE/BTech, MBA/PGDM programs.
DSU:
Dayanand Sagar University is a deemed university based in Bangalore. It was founded later than the other two institutes and is an emerging top amongst the others. It is popular for its BTech and MBA courses.
Specializations:
DSCE:
It has a total of 21 departments across Engineering, Architecture, Management, and Computer Applications.
It features 20 research centers and more than 120 research faculty.
It has 15 specializations for BE programs and 11 specializations for MTech.
DSATM:
It offers a total of 15 courses across 4 streams in Engineering, Computer Applications, Architecture, and Management.
It offers 12 specializations in BTech and has been ranked at 109 for its BE/BTech programs by India Today 2020.
DSU:
It has six schools under its arena in Medical Sciences, Engineering, Commerce, Management, Basic and Applied sciences, Arts, and Humanities.
It offers 53 courses across 9 streams with 3 specializations in BTech and MTech.
Qualifying Exams:
Admissions at DSCE require students to appear for JEE Main/ COMED-K/ KCET for BTech courses. For MTech students can appear for GATE/Karnataka PGCET and for MBA PGDM students must appear for MAT/CAT/KMAT/Karnataka PGCET.
For DSATM admissions, students can apply for UG programs by appearing for CET, COMED-K, JEE Main, or DCET. For architecture programs, students will require NATA scores.
DSU Admissions for BTech/BE degree courses accept COMED-K UGET/ KSET/DSAT scores. For MTech and MBA programs Karnataka PGCET/DSAT scores are required.
These are the main differences between the given institutions.
As the question is specific about the CSE branch, Acharya Institute of Technology ( AIT ) would be a better option compared to CMR University in regard to placements. AIT was established a lot earlier than CMR University and functions as an autonomous body, while AIT is affiliated to VTU and ACITE norms.
Affiliation:
Being a newly established and Autonomous institute CMR wouldn’t compete against AIT when it comes to placements and campus opportunities.
AIT is not the only college with VTU affiliation, but also the Dayanand Sagar Academy of Technology and Management (DSTAM). What makes DSTAM standout among these three is the number of placements it offers each year. With consistent placement records ever since its establishment, DSTAM has grown a lot during the past few years in terms of its reputation.
Admission:
To be eligible for admission to Acharya Institute of Technology, one must appear in CET conducted by the Institute. The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination.
Dayanand Sagar also conducts a Common Entrance Test for admission in B.E. programs. Students must have obtained at least 45% marks in their intermediate examination with PCM.
Placements:
The average package of AIT would hover around 3.2 LPA where DSTAM would go up to 3.5- 4 LPA.
Many top IT companies and few product-based software companies visit the DSTAM campus for recruitments each year.
Pre-final year students of the colleges receive a lot of support from Alumni network inform of internship and job offers in their startups.
Fee Structure:
Speaking of affordability both CMR and DSTAM cots much less than AIT, the former being just around 1 lakh per year, and the later is nearly 3 lakh per year.
The fee need to be paid for AIT for the four-year degree is almost 12 lakhs.
We can say that both AIT and DSTAM would be good and compelling options to opt for when looking for computer science admission. To add further the campus of DSTAM is right in the heart of the city.
So, to conclude if placements are of high priority ( which of course should be for CSE ), then Dayanand Sagar is a clear choice, but if the fee structure doesn’t match your comfort then AIT should be the immediate choice.
