Whether you should leave Seth GS for AIIMS or not can be understood only after going through a general comparison between the two:

Academics: The academics of both colleges are somewhat similar.

Lifestyle: KEM is located in Mumbai so you will have to go through the metro lifestyle which includes pollution, crowd, and an unhygienic lifestyle.

Hostel: Hostel facilities are much better in AIIMS than in KEM. Also, KEM does not provide hostel facilities to 1st-year students. The hostels in KEM are very crowded.

Crowd: KEM has a larger batch and there might be crowding.

The final decision is yours.

Every college is good in one or the other aspects. Its location, faculty, and infrastructure are the main factors that determine a college's priority. The following list contains the colleges in order of priority based on their pros and cons.

Pros:

  • BHU: No requirement to sign a bond

  • Seth GS: Located in Mumbai with the best academic structure

  • KGMU Lucknow: The location and academic structure are perfect.

  • Other AIIMS: No need to sign any bond and the fee structure is affordable. AIIMS tag can help you with USMLE purposes.

Cons:

  • BHU: Located in Varanasi, it lacks the facilities of metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai

  • Seth GS: Mumbai is expensive and a bond of 1 year needs to be signed

  • CMC Vellore: You will have to learn Tamil as it is located South India. The fee structure is pretty expensive.

  • Other AIIMS: They are usually not located in a good location except for Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.

The preferred order as per the pros and cons can be - BHU> AIIMS> KGMU> Grant> Seth GS> CMC Vellore

One college can be good for you but bad for others. This is because your own needs determine which college is best for you. So choose wisely.

It will be better to go to Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi (MAMC). Here are some reasons why:

  • MAMC Delhi is considered the best medical college for students going through NEET.
  • Many top students have always chosen this college.
  • You will get to study with the brilliant minds of the country.
  • The one thing every student prefers about MAMC Delhi is its course fees. It is very less as compared to SGSMC Mumbai. Your entire MBBS tuition fees will be around INR 11,000.
  • Maulana Azad Medical College is run by the Delhi Government whereas SGSMC is run by Mumbai’s Municipal Corporation.
  • MAMC being situated in Delhi provides the best college life with a huge campus with an indoor-outdoor sports facility, swimming pool, gym facilities, AC lecture halls, etc. Such perks are missing in SGSMC Mumbai.

If clinical exposure and academics are considered they may be at the same level, but MAMC being under Delhi University has an upper hand.

It is widely held that the Mumbai work structure is extremely beneficial and makes you more confident and open.

GSMC has a bond, so you must work for a year after graduation, whereas AIIMS does not have a bond. As one of the most prominent leading institutes in Maharashtra, GSMC has excellent technical infrastructure. It has a higher patient flow, which is very important. It also has more advanced clinical departments. The faculty is an incredible and enthusiastic supporter. It is affiliated with other BMC colleges, giving you more opportunities, and it is also affiliated with prestigious institutions such as Tata Memorial and Wadia Hospital.

AIIMS Raipur is a good choice because of the AIIMS brand, infrastructure, and smaller batch size, but GSMC is still suggested.

This majorly depends on the student’s choice and what they will prefer. Seth GS and Grant Medical College (GMC) are both good institutions. Here’s mentioning some facts analyzing which you can make your decision.

  • GMC has the largest campus in Maharashtra, also it is one of the oldest colleges in India.
  • They offer both boys and girls hostels. They also have separate common rooms.
  • The hostels are spacious and offer both single and double occupancy rooms.
  • Unlike other medical colleges, many cultural events, festivals, extracurricular activities, etc. take place here quite frequently.
  • Seth GS is comparatively stricter and prefers discipline and punctuality.
  • Most of Maharashtra’s top ranking students usually go there.
  • Students outside Maharashtra tend to prefer GMC.

As mentioned by most of the students that GMC has better academics, facilities and co-curricular activities, it is suggested that you go for GMC rather than Seth GS.

This choice majorly depends on the student and his preferences.

Seth GS:

  • If you prefer studying a lot probably most of the time then opt for Seth GS.
  • They have a highly qualified staff and caters to KEM Hospital.
  • You will be studying amongst some of the brightest minds.
  • The hostel and accomodation facilities are the only problem, due to its location.

GMC:

  • If you want to enjoy your college life, Grant Medical College (GMC) will be good for you.
  • It has the largest campus in Maharashtra.
  • GMC conducts the best cultural fests and events, be it sports, art or academics. This provides great exposure.
  • The staff here is also highly qualified just like KEM.
  • Students here tend to lean towards the extracurricular activities more than the studies.
  • The campus has 2 boys hostels and 1 girls hostel enough to provide lodging for all the students who apply.
  • The hostel provides facilities like hot water, pure drinking water, beds, tables, etc.

Most people will claim that KEM is better for your career. But at the end of the day you also need some extracurricular activities to engage in and avoid the monotony.
