BMSCE, Bangalore M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in pursuing MTech course at BMSCE, Bangalore must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

Candidates shall possess a BE/B.Tech degree in relevant specialization with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
A relaxation of 5% in final aggregate scores is provided to SC, ST and Cat-I candidates of Karnataka state only.
Candidates must have qualified PGCET or GATE entrance exams.

BMSCE, Bangalore M.Tech Admission Process

BMS College of Engineering admits eligible candidates to its M.Tech program based on the scores in Karnataka PGCET. However, candidates with a valid GATE score card are exempted from PGCET and are admitted directly on the basis of their GATE scores.

The application process for the M.Tech course is completed on the official website of the institute.
A merit list is then prepared based on the GATE/ PGCET score.
Candidates shortlisted are called for the counseling process.
Candidates must carry the allotment letter along with the original documents and report to the institute on the given date.
Final allocation of seats is done only after the successful payment of fees.

PGCET 2022

PGCET is a state level entrance exam conducted annually by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for admissions to the PG courses including MTech.
The test is generally conducted in an offline manner for a duration of 150 minutes generally across 12 centres of the state.
The test curriculum for MTech is based on the fundamentals of the subject chosen by the candidates itself whereas 90 questions out of 150 are based on Arithmetic and Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English..

How to Apply?

To successfully apply for MTech admissions at BMS College of Engineering, the following steps are to be followed:

To register successfully, candidates must enter their name, email id and create a strong password.

BMSCE, Bangalore M.Tech Programme Details - Curriculum, Syllabus

BMS College of Engineering provides MTech in 14 specializations under the respective departments of the institute. The course is imparted with an aim to produce young and talented engineers with an ability of changing societal needs with credibility, integrity and ethical standards.

The course is offered for a minimum duration of 2 years and a maximum duration of 4 years.
It is a credit based course, hence, each semester carries a total of 22 credits. Candidates need to earn a total of 100 credits in order to receive the degree.
The curriculum structure concentrates on acquiring expertise in the practical arena.
The course work is well defined and there are two projects in the third and fourth semesters respectively.

Program Structure

Attendance: Students need to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance in all courses in each semester. In case of medical emergencies and other legitimate grounds, the college will pardon up to 10% of attendance. Also, if a student fails to meet the attendance bar, they will be abstained from appearing in the Semester End Exam.
Course Structure: The M.Tech curriculum structure is designed by considering the type of knowledge the student will receive in his/her specialization. Each specialization comprises Core Courses, Elective Courses, Internship and Project Work. The credit system is as follows:

Comprehensive Exam: The assessment of students is done in two parts, namely, CIE and SEE which carry equal weightage. To gauge the overall performance of the students, the results of CIE and SEE are taken individually and together.
- Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE): CIE includes regular homework assignments, class tests,problem-solving, group discussions, quiz, seminar, and mid-term tests.
- Semester End Examination (SEE): SEE is conducted by the controller of the examination at the end of a semester. It includes a practical/ design examination and a written examination for theory courses.

- Evaluation: The performance of students in each semester is evaluated on the basis of CIE, SEE , Internship and Project. Candidates must score an aggregate of 50% or above in each semester in order to pass that semester.
- Internship: Students are required to go for a 16-week internship program to gain first-hand experience in the industry. Student’s performance in an internship is also considered in the final evaluation.
- Project Work: Students are assigned the project in 3rd and 4th semesters. The projects are evaluated based on presentations, project reports, and demonstrations.

If you are interested in CSE then choosing the Amritapuri campus of Amrita University Bangalore will be better. One of my friends is a student of Amritapuri and so far he had a good experience at the institute. Here are some of the aspects of the institute. Campus: The campus is great and offers a decent academic environment. It has smart classrooms and a library with a good collection of books for different branches. There is no distraction due to politics. Academics: Academics at the campus is as good as you can expect from an engineering campus. The faculties are experienced. There is enough research exposure. The computer lab is well-equipped. Opportunities: There are three active clubs, i.e. FOSS, Cyber Security, ICPC. You can take part in international programming competitions under the guidance of experts in programming. You can also take part in internship programs like GSoC, Outreachy, etc. The institute also has exchange programs with reputed institutes in Europe and United States. Hostel and Food: The hostel rooms are spacious and well-furnished. There are facilities such as wifi, reading rooms, etc. The food provided at the mess is mostly vegetarian. It is not that testy. But there are canteens and restaurants nearby. Placements: It has an active placement department that will help you improve your soft skills, presentation skills.
