Seth Anandram Jaipuria College is a liberal arts college Established in 1945 in Kolkata. Affiliated to the Calcutta University, the college offers courses in streams of Arts, Commerce and Science. The College runs in three shifts wherein the Day shift is for co-ed, morning Shift is exclusively meant for girls and the Evening Shift is for boys. The College has also introduced various new subjects including Electronics, Computer Science, Journalism and Mass Communication Food & Nutrition & Psychology etc. in the recent years.
The college offers various courses in Arts and Commerce streams including B.Com honours as well as Bachelor of Arts in Bengali, Hindi, English, History, Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Phycology and Food & Nutrition. B.A is a three years’ course wherein students can opt for any of the subjects in humanities and social science streams.
Students seeking admission to SAJ College can apply for the same by filling in the admission form. A recent photograph needs to be attached with the filled admission form along with the copies of HSC mark sheet for verification to the office staff. The College does not conduct any entrance examination and selection of the candidates is done only on merit basis.
The college considers marks obtained in top four subjects in the immediately preceding qualifying examination to determine the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. For candidates passing the higher secondary (10+2) examination from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under Old System, marks in top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain in their aggregate marks.

SAJ College offers reservation for S.C, S.T, OBC-A and OBC-B candidates in each subject as per university and government rules/regulations. 22% seats are reserved for SC candidates, ST candidates are given 6% seats, 3% of total seats are reserved for PC and OBC-A and OBC B have 10% and 7% seats reserved for them respectively. It should be noted that SC/ST candidates from states outside West Bengal are not entitled to any reservations, and the college treats them as candidates of general category.
- Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for S.C. and S.T: Eligibility Criteria for Honours Course: Aggregate 40% [best 4] or/and Subject 40% and for General course – Pass marks in the Previous Examination, i.e., at 10+2 level
- Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for OBC [A] and OBC [B] & PWD: Eligibility Criteria for Honours and General Courses is same as that decided by the college.
- Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for Sports Persons: Eligibility Criteria for Honours Course -Aggregate 50% [best 4] and 45% in Subject or allied subject and for General Course – 40% in aggregate [best 4]
Additionally, all candidates seeking admission in the SAJ college are required to score passing marks in English. Admission to Honours and General courses will be subject to Calcutta University regulations of Calcutta University. Students seeking admission in Chemistry (Hons.) have to score Pass marks in Physics as well.
Vocational Stream Students are allowed to apply for BA/B.Com General courses only. The college announces merit list for vocational stream separately for a few earmarked seats. Girls taking admission in Morning shift will be given B.A. General - Elective English as General Subject. In this case, they are required to have 50% in English at 10+2 level. Eligibility Criteria of Admission Process for B.Sc. Chemistry in Seth Anandram Jaipuria College has 75% marks in the 12th class board result, The Subject combination should be Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. application form can be found on the online college website, if we get selected we have to pay the fees online and go to the college for physical verification in 2 days of time span. if we pay the fees our seats will be reserved. Improvements should be made to the details of dates regarding physical verification and class starting dates.

SC, ST, and OBC get reservation benefits at application time. The time period for filling out the application form is too lengthy, it needs to be shortened.

Heramba Chandra College is one of the top-tier Commerce colleges in West Bengal. It is better than Seth Anandram Jaipuria College. Here are the pros and cons of joining Heramba Chandra College.
Pros:
- Great faculty base.
- Good ROI.
- Various clubs and associations that you can join.
- The one and only Commerce lab in Eastern India.
- Great Library with online access.
- Regular workshops and seminars.
- High-speed internet access.
- Great alumni base.
- There is a computer center, i.e. ASCII.
- The campus is ragging-free.
- There are smart classes.
- Good placement record.
Cons:
- The college does not have hostel accommodation. But there are good PG facilities near the campus.
- The classes are non-AC. Also, there are no lifts.
At Jaipuria there are almost no placement opportunities. Also, the campus has high political influences.
The peer group at Herambachandra is better too since the cutoff is higher. Overall, it is a better prion for pursuing a B.Com degree.

- Both the colleges will provide you with a degree from Calcutta University. But the brand value varies for both the colleges.
- There will be a huge difference when you will mention Jaipuria college in your CV as compared to Umesh Chandra college.

- If you want to enroll in CA or pursue some other course now or further, then it is suggested you opt for Umesh Chandra college as it is a more lenient college.
- So, Jaipuria College evening is a good option if you want to seriously learn about the subject both theoretically and practically.

One of my friends is currently pursuing the CA from Jaipuria Evening college. He feels satisfied with the academics till now. So yes you could opt for Jaipuria as well. But ultimately it is your decision so choose wisely.
