Applicants who have completed 10+2/ HSC or its equivalent qualifying examination in any discipline from a recognized Board and are passed in English subject are considered eligible for admission to BA (General) course. Whereas, for BA (Hons.) English course a candidate must have qualified 10+2 with minimum 45% marks in aggregate and have scored at least 55% marks (50% for reserved category) in English is declared eligible. Similarly, for BA (Hons.) Bengali program those who have completed HSC with 45% marks in aggregate along with 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates) in Bengali are eligible for admission.
Admission of the eligible candidate in either course is done on the basis of their merit in the qualifying examination.
Chittaranjan College offers BA (General) and BA (Hons.) in English and Bengali to the aspirants. These courses are of 3 years duration.

- Marks obtained in the compulsory subject like Environmental Studies/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Education is not taken into account while calculating aggregate marks of 10+2.
- Marks of best 4 subjects of 10+2 level is considered while calculating the aggregate marks.
- Applicants shall choose any two pass/ general subjects out of Hindi/ History/ Education/ Political Science/ Philosophy to apply while applying for BA Honors.
- Candidate applying for BA General Course must select any three pass/ general subjects out of Hindi/ History/ Education/ Political Science/ Philosophy.
