It will depend on the cut-off marks as set up by the college. It differs from year to year. If you score above 85 your chances of getting selected in the first round will be easier.
Later it will gradually drop down to 75-80. This will also vary among students of reserved and unreserved categories. Students belonging to reserved categories might require a lower score like 70-75, which can drop down to 60-65, depending on the course and the college’s set cut off.
Loreto is a better option for doing a B.Sc degree in Psychology. Loreto offers great academics. The faculties are well-qualified and helpful. They will help you with your doubts even after class. However, you should know that Loreto is quite strict regarding its rules and regulations. If you don’t have any issues with their rules, you can easily fit in.
Among Loreto and Bethune, the former is a better option for pursuing a UG Psychology degree. The Psychology department has a great faculty base. Also, since Calcutta University has introduced the CBCS system, it is not that difficult to score decent marks. The brand name of Loreto also helps your CV stands out.
I know people from both Bethune College and Vidyasagar College. According to what I heard from them, I will say the former is better.
These reasons make Bethune a better option for pursuing your course.
Yes, you can get admission in B.Sc Psychology at Bethune College as a number of students leave their seats for better colleges. You can then try to get a seat during the second, third or fourth cut-off list.
Bethune College has highly qualified faculty members but the classes are not conducted regularly. Sometimes they even fail to complete the syllabus. But if we ignore these flaws, they are quite brilliant as educators.
If you're joining this college, make sure you can study by yourself because you will not get constant attention from teachers. Bethune College will provide you with a better experience. In Bethune, you will develop both academically and holistically. Overall it is a great institution to be a part of.
Those who think that an all-girls college is not much fun are absolutely wrong. One of my friends from Bethune College said that from attending classes to celebrating festivals, it was always a great experience.
Bethune College teachers are friendly and cordial. The seniors as well as the juniors are enthusiastic and energetic. The college staff was equally cooperative.
The most memorable thing at Bethune College was the inter-college competitions, for which they also received an award.
Bethune was also ranked as the best college by the Education Minister. Every college under Calcutta University should get inspiration from Bethune College.
If you are willing to apply for Economics (Hons.) at Bethune College, then you require at least a minimum of 88% marks. The index marks of Economics are calculated in a different way, so it is suggested to check the official college website for it.
If you are good at Mathematics, it is quite easy to get into colleges like Scottish Church College or Bethune College. If you have a mark of above 85% in Mathematics and English, it will be easier for you to get into a good college for B.Sc Economics Honours.
To change your subject after taking admission to Bethune College, you need to know the following:
You will be then informed about the further procedure (if any). Make sure to report to the head of your department within the first week, after the commencement of class, that you want to change your subject combination.
Loreto College Kolkata and Bethune College are under Calcutta University. Their overall course structure will be similar.
As one of my friends graduated from Bethune, I can say that their Economics department is much better than Loreto College.
The faculty is really great. They are highly experienced and extremely cooperative. They make sure that the students learn each and every topic from scratch. Even if you did not have an economics background before college, the professors teach you in a way that makes you familiar with the basics of the subject, hence gradually you get the full concept of it.
Due to this, it is suggested that you go for Bethune College rather than Loreto College to pursue an Economics Honours.
Bethune College is one of the renowned colleges in West Bengal. As you have opted for B.Sc Economics One of my friends also studied at Bethune College, so I might be able to provide some tips about this:
