• The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Civil Engineering at the University of California is a 4 years program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • Bioengineering at Berkeley is a multidisciplinary major intended for academically strong students who excel in the physical sciences, mathematics, and biology.
  • The coursework provides a strong foundation in engineering and the biological sciences, with the freedom to explore a variety of topics and specialize in advanced areas of research.
  • The department offers one Bioengineering major, with several concentrations. these are:
    • Biomedical Devices
    • Biomedical Imaging
    • Cell and Tissue Engineering
    • Synthetic and Computational Biology
  • All students benefit from intensive group design work, either through a senior capstone project or through independent research in faculty laboratories.
  • For each concentration there is a sample program that students should use as a guide. All of the concentrations share the same first Fall semester, which includes:
    • BioE 10: Introduction to Biomedicine for Engineers
    • BioE 26: Introduction to Bioengineering
    • Math 1A: Calculus
    • Chem 1A: General Chemistry
    • Humanities elective
  • After the first semester, different concentrations consist of a unique selection of courses designed to prepare students for advanced work in that subject area.
  • The requirements for the Bioengineering Bachelor’s Degree is a minimum of 120 semester units.
  • The major features small, specialized upper division courses, and direct interaction with faculty.
  • The stimulating environment of Berkeley offers a wealth of opportunity for learning, research, service, community involvement, and provides dedicated students the knowledge and skills to become the next leaders in bioengineering.
