UT Austin offers over 3,000 scholarships to prospective students. International students at University of Texas Austin have limited financial aid options. International students can apply for scholarships at the University of Texas at Austin. These awards are available for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, with the amount and coverage varying according to the award.
These scholarships usually cover the tuition and allowance fees. Some awards and scholarships are already available to international students in their first year, and they can begin applying as soon as they are accepted. Other awards may be given based on your academic performance.
Types of Scholarship
UT Austin provides yearly awards, scholarships, and loans to assist students to fund their education at UT. Whether they need a financial loan for an unexpected need or a complete tuition stipend, they are committed to making education at UT more affordable.
Undergraduate Scholarships
Jerry D. Wilcox Community Engagement Scholarship
The Jerry D. Wilcox Community Engagement Scholarship is a USD 3,500 fall tuition award given to an undergraduate international student who has shown leadership in their undergraduate program through academic achievement, participation in campus and community organizations - particularly in leadership roles, and positive contributions to the campus community.
When you are chosen for the Jerry D. Wilcox Community Engagement Scholarship, you must write a thank you letter. Awards will not be added to recipients' accounts until they have received a thank you note.

Applicants must submit an Essay of Involvement (500-1500 words, typed, double-spaced) that addresses all of the following points:
- Discuss the significance of leadership and community involvement in your own involvement.
- Using specific examples, describe the positive impact your involvement has had on yourself, others, and the community.
- Summarize the most important lessons you've learned from participating in your listed activities.
The Limura Peace Endowed Scholarship
The Iimura Peace Endowed Scholarship is a USD 5,000 autumn grant that recognizes an international student who is committed to promoting Asian peace. This scholarship is for foreign undergraduate students from Asia, with a preference for individuals who have lived or attended school in East Asia or Asia.

Applicants must submit an Essay of Involvement (500-1500 words, typed, double-spaced) that covers all of the following topics:
- Undergraduate GPA must be 2.0 or higher, and you must be in good standing with your academic department.
- Have completed two semesters prior to the award's disbursement.
- Involvement Essay (500-1500 words, typed, double-spaced) that addresses:
- What is your definition of promoting Asian peace? Give some examples.
- What peace-promoting organizations/projects have you been a part of?
- Based on your experiences in the United States, how do you intend to promote peace in your community?
International Education Fee Scholarship
In 1989, a student referendum created the International Education Fee (IEF) Scholarship. Both incoming foreign students and outgoing students studying abroad can benefit from the IEF Scholarship. The grant is open to undergraduate international students who are currently enrolled or who have just been admitted. The application will include a complete list of qualifying requirements.

Postgraduate Scholarship
General ISSS Financial Aid
For foreign students who show financial need, the General ISSS Financial Aid grant gives USD 4,000 per semester in cash assistance. in the fall and spring semesters, and USD 2,500 in the summer semester. Because the number of prizes available each semester is limited, this is a competitive procedure.
This grant is only open to International students who have completed at least two semesters at UT at the time the award is disbursed. The application itself contains a complete list of eligibility conditions.

Required Documents
- Bank statements: Students must provide copies of their most recent three months' monthly bank statements, including a statement of deposits and balances.
- Personal Statement: You must submit a typed statement (no more than two pages) addressing your financial need.
- Additional documentation: Submit proof of scholarship termination, loss of sponsorship, medical bills, currency depreciation, or written documentation of government restrictions on funds/resources allowed out of your country.
Tuition and Emergency Cash Loans
International students can apply for two types of institutional loans through Texas Global to help them temporarily fund their studies:
- Loan for tuition (maximum of USD 4,000)
- Emergency Cash Loan (up to USD 500)
An annual interest of 4% will be imposed on each loan. Tuition loans must be repaid to the university within three months of the loan being taken out (two months if done during the summer semester).
Emergency Cash Loans must be repaid to the University within one month of the loan being taken out. If there are less than 30 days left in the current semester, Emergency Cash Loans are not available. On the What I Owe tab, you may repay a Tuition or an Emergency Cash Loan online.
Eligibility Requirements for Tuition and Emergency Cash Loans
- Must be enrolled full-time (Undergraduate – 12 hours; Graduate – 9 hours.
- Undergraduates must have a minimum 2.0 GPA; Graduates must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- There must be no outstanding financial bars.
The International Peace Scholarship
The International Peace Scholarship Fund is a program that gives funding to chosen women from various nations to study in the United States and Canada for graduate school. In 1949, P.E.O. established an international scholarship program. In 1959, the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund was founded. P.E.O. members support this initiative because they believe that education is critical to international peace and understanding.

Required Documents
- Promise to Return- An applicant must submit a witnessed statement stating that she will return after completing the degree program. Both the applicant and the witness must sign this statement.
- Travel Expense - At the time of application, the applicant must have her round-trip or return travel expense guaranteed.
- Sponsor- An applicant must have a sponsor who is a US or Canadian citizen and will serve as her nonacademic adviser.
Some scholarships at UT Austin require students to meet additional application requirements in order to be considered. The information from your admissions application and the FAFSA/TASFA is used to determine your eligibility.
The majority of scholarship choices will be made public in March and April. If you do not receive a scholarship as a freshman, it does not mean you will not receive one as a sophomore, junior, or senior. Returning students are frequently given more scholarship funds than newcomers, so apply every year to increase your chances of receiving a scholarship.
