SRM University offers several scholarships, fee waiver schemes, teaching and research assistance to meritorious and deserving students. In 2007-08, close to 750 students benefited from various schemes and 1500 in 2008-09. Fee waiver of 50% students with above 90% in CBSE and above 95% in State Board examinations. Founder’s Scholarship-full waiver on tuition, books, hostels and mess, plus a stipend of Rs.1000 per month to top state, SRMJEE, JEE (Main) rankers, sports person, and socio-economics disdained.

Is Aligarh Muslim University good enough for a B.Tech, compared to private universities like VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar?

Yes, Aligarh Muslim University is way better than private universities such as VIT, SRM, Manipal, and Thapar for B.Tech. AMU is a central university and is widely recognized. Many times students prefer AMU prefer NITs.

It has international-level infrastructure and a great faculty base. Many professors from CS and Electronics branches are past employees of top MNCs like Microsoft, CISCO, etc. The placements are pretty good for B.Tech. AMU B.Tech placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 5.62 LPA.

The industrial exposure is less compared to the other institutes. But as AMU is located in the vicinity of NCR, the location advantage makes up for it.

Presidency University is a relatively newly established institute in 2013 whereas SRM was established in 2004 and is a highly reputed private institute across the country specially for engineering, having a strong alumni network in the industry. SRM also has international collaborations with universities from USA, UK, France and a few other countries, allowing scholarly students to undergo semester abroad programme.

If you're considering pursuing IT, Manipal, Jaipur could be a good option for you as the faculty is supportive and helpful, and the syllabus is somewhat similar to Computer Science with some changes in the 3rd and final year. While the speaker has no personal experience with SRM, Chennai, it's worth noting that branches like CS/IT are rarely dependent on the faculty or college.

In IT, at some point in your course, you will have to learn languages on your own and accordingly code using those languages. So, it's crucial to have a good understanding of the basics and develop problem-solving skills. Keep in mind that the field of IT is continually evolving, and it's essential to keep yourself updated with the latest technologies and trends.
