Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) was established in January 2010 by the Act, 2009 and notified by the Govt. of Assam and is located in Guwahati. ASTU is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and accredited by NAAC. There are 24 colleges affiliated to ASTU Guwahati.

ASTU offers undergraduate programs in 7 different fields like Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, Architecture, Computer Application, Business and Design.

Only those candidates who have completed their higher secondary education in related subjects can apply for admission to various undergraduate programs like B.Tech, BBA, BCA, B.Des, etc. Students willing to pursue B.Tech must also appear for Assam-CEE.

Also 8 full-time PG programs in Engineering, Business, Pharmacy, Computer Application, Architecture, and Science are offered. Candidates should have passed graduation in a relevant subject from a recognized university.

Admission to ME program is based on merit list shortlisting students on GATE rank. While other programs like MBA require students to have qualified CAT/MAT/CMAT or any other national level entrance for this course. M.Des, M.Pharm, etc admissions are merit based.

There is also a Doctorate program offered by the university in various specializations and a Diploma program in Pharmacy. For Ph.D. students must have qualified UGC-NET/JRF/GATE/SLET for direct admission else they must appear for the internal entrance.

Entrance based

Candidate has to choose ASTU colleges while submitting an application for counseling for Assam-CEE.

While merit based admissions requires students to submit an online application.

Admission Process

Students must qualify for GATE for M.Tech admissions.

How to Apply for GATE?

The applications are accepted through the official website of GOAPS. Where the applicant must register first to create a new registration using one unique email id.

Documents Required

Scanned photograph and signature
Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address).
Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate.
Copy of mark sheet of V /VI /VII semester.
Final year students must submit Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Dept.
Candidates in the final year of AMIE have to submit their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.
Caste Certificate/Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable).
Candidates pursuing a higher degree or masters have to submit the qualifying degree certificate.

*GATE qualified candidates shall be given preference and these candidates do not have to appear in the selection test conducted by the institute.

ASTU Ph.D Admission 2023

The institute invites applications for admission to the Doctorate program. Students with Postgraduate Degrees in the relevant subjects can apply for admission to the course.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates have a Master’s Degree in the subject concerned or in related subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate.

Selection Criteria

Those candidates who have cleared the UGC/ JRF /NET Exam or equivalent will be enrolled for the Ph.D. program in academics.

How to apply for ASTU Admission?

The application process for all the courses offered by college will be done through an admission test and interview process. Applicants need to follow a sequence of steps to apply for the desired course. These steps are mentioned as follows:

Visit the official website of the University.
The candidate has to register for the application process of the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) or click here.
Candidates will be provided by Application no. and passwords on their registered email and mobile no.
After which the student needs to submit the application form by paying the application fee.
Take a printout of the filled application form for reference.
Selected candidates must take admission within the date of admission by paying the necessary fees.

Ques. Which course is a better MBA or M.Sc?

Ans. There is nothing like which is better and which is not. Each course is its best in its own field. Students who are interested in MBA will enjoy their opportunities in the Business sphere and the ones in M.Sc will have to go through Science related fields.

Ques. Can the course fee be paid in installments per year?

Ans. The College has provided an option to pay the fee for every year during its beginning as per college fee structure.

Ques. On what criteria does the University provide scholarships?

Ans. University basically provides scholarships to the students from the lower caste (for which you have to provide caste certificate), also they do help load facilities from different banks.

Ques. Is there any entrance exam for admission to the B.Tech program?

Ans. Yes, there is an entrance exam for B.Tech course, the candidate has to apply for ASSAM CEE 2021 for admission, and then-candidate can apply for the further counseling process.
