Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences - [SHUATS]: 15 answered questions

Ques
How is SHUATS in Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Sreetama Roy on 11 Oct 21

Ans
I have a few friends from SHUATS and they didn’t have good experiences at the institute. Here are some of the things that they complained about.  The faculty based at the institute is not great. Before the examination students receive some assignments, and most questions in the exam come from those assignments.  The peer group at the institute is not good. You won’t experience much competition. You can only expect a degree from the institute. You will not receive any placement opportunities.  So, don’t choose SHUATS, if you have other options.

Ques
Can I get an admission in SHUATS merit number 2310?

● Top Answer By Anamika Kaur on 25 Oct 21

Ans
You can get admission in SHUATS at this rank but it depends on which branch you want to opt for.  The cutoff, however, differs from branch to branch. In case, you are planning to take admission in the Agriculture branch then your rank should be below 200-300.  For branches such as Dairy Tech, Food Tech you will require a rank below 1100 approximately. If you are planning for core branches then you can easily get admission if you have a rank nearby 3000 and in some other branches, you can get admission even at 5000 rank. For more information you can visit the official website of the college and find out more about vacant seats that in which branch there is a seat vacant so you can opt. Better course during counseling.

Ques
Which is a better choice for a B.Sc in agriculture LPU or SHUATS?

● Top Answer By Khushi Agarwal on 11 Oct 21

Ans
SHUATS and LPU are the recognized agriculture engineering institutes in India. It is preferable to join LPU as it is one of the top private universities in terms of education and placements. LPU imparts knowledge to students through theoretical and practical approaches. With a commitment to innovation, it provides the best learning experience possible. The following are the reasons to join B.Sc. Agriculture program in LPU. Students participate in evergreen agriculture through the RAWE Program. It aims to improve interpersonal skills. Students are exposed to commercial farms to gain knowledge, which allows them to engage and strengthen their endurance, confidence, and management abilities. By debating and solving case studies on difficult and real-life scenarios, the emphasis is on interpersonal skills. It will build abilities in analytical thinking and reflective judgment. Entrepreneurship is encouraged to create future job providers. The projects of the program include Aquaponics, Floating Island, Hydroponics, and Flying Farmer Innovative approach. There are shows and campaigns like Spring Flower Show and Nutritional Awareness Camp on Safe and Nutritious Food for School Children. The institute has the best campus placement drive in reputed agricultural companies. These include Syngenta, Bio Seed, HDFC Bank, Dhanuka, Reliance retail, Nestle, Virbac, Amazon, Sanra organics, Smur Agro, VLCC, and more. In conclusion, I will say LPU is the best choice for agriculture.

Ques
Is there any management quota in SHUATS for a BSc in agriculture?

● Top Answer By Prerna Suri on 25 Oct 21

Ans
There are some direct admissions for students on the spot admission. Numerous students who don’t appear for the entrance exam take admission through backdoor admissions. One of my friends who were at SHUATS told me that in his class he had only 180 seats including ICAR seats but later he learned there were 216 IDs.  However, this might not be true as there is officially no management quota at the institute. You should try to work hard and get a decent rank.

Ques
How good is SHUATS?

● Top Answer By Ashish Bajaj on 14 Oct 21

Ans
It is okay for people who want to have a career in dairy or agriculture. The placement is, however, not completely guaranteed for these courses. The other courses that the institute offers are not worth the money and you will be better off in some other institute. There is a plus though, you will get a lot of time to prepare for the government sector if you opt for SHUATS. There is no equipment and an attendance of 75% is compulsory for admit cards. The marksheet will not have much impact once you are done with the course. Money is the only agenda of the place so think again. The teachers hardly take the classes and the ones who do, do not make much of a difference.

Ques
Does SHUATS give scholarships for OBC BSc agriculture students?

● Top Answer By Brityananda Roy on 12 Nov 21

Ans
Yes, SHUATS provides scholarships for OBC students pursuing B.Sc Agriculture. However, you will need to be from UP, to avail of the scholarships. Your family income also needs to be less than two to three lakhs. U.P Govt. also offers scholarships to eligible students. Other than that, the university offers fee concessions. But to get it, you will need to have connections.

Ques
How is a B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering at SHUATS?

● Top Answer By Tridha Sinha on 04 Oct 22

Ans
SHUATS offers a great B.Tech Agriculture Engineering program. This program is affiliated with ICAR and it is among the top courses offered by the university. SHUATS has a decent infrastructure. Classes are regular. B.Tech Agriculture Engineering coursework is a combination of Agriculture and Machinery.  The placement record of the course isn’t excellent. According to the recent highlights of SHUATS placements around 40% of students from B.Tech Agriculture Engineering get placed. Few companies such as Mahindra, Sonalika, etc. visit the campus placements.

Ques
What rank is required for a BCA at SHUATS?

● Top Answer By Mahima Dasgupta on 12 Nov 21

Ans
If you have a rank of 3000-4000, you should get admission easily in BCA at SHUATS. I have also known people who got admission with 5000+ rank. But if you don’t want to do a post-graduate then doing a B.Tech will be better. You can also do a B.Sc degree in Computer Science and pursue an MCA degree after.

Ques
How good is the infrastructure of SHUATS and what type of students standard are there in SHUATS?

● Top Answer By Ishita Parekh on 14 Oct 21

Ans
In SHUATS, you can find students from all across the country and even students from foreign countries such as Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Russia, and students from some African countries. The environment of the college has a lot of greenery and the food provided by the cafés is also not bad.  The institute also has a chapel which is not mandatory for the students to attend. It is completely optional.  There is also a shop for the students close to the girls’ hostel. It is very secure as safety is a priority. The environment is also very calm and there is also a café that serves organic food. Next to SIET, there is the department of B.Ed. It is closer to gate number 3.  On the way towards SIET you will see a field where the students of agriculture work. Moving on, you will come across the water resource department, farming, and the department of agriculture.  Followed by that, there is the biotech department and the NCC. There are two sports fields on opposite sides. Towards gate number 1, there is the dairy college of SHUATS. You will also see the hostel for the boys.  You will find the department of accounts as well as the auditorium which usually holds indoor sports or counseling during admission. Finally, opposite the library, there is the convocation field. Next to the convocation field, there is the central canteen. This is a basic overview of SHUATS.
