Allahabad University MSc Course Highlights

Master of Science is 2 years program divided into four semesters.
The most popular specializations are Defence and Strategic Studies, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Physics, Chemistry, and Statistics.
Applicants need to have a minimum of 50% marks in BSc for MSc in Biotechnology.
The institute selects the candidates on the basis of an entrance exam called PGAT.
The most popular companies for MSc placement in 2020 were HCL, Axis, Prism Johnson Pvt Ltd, Reliance JIO, and Genpact.

Applicant should have a relevant bachelor’s degree to be eligible to apply for MSc.
For MSc in Biotechnology, the candidate should have 50% in one of the following subjects - Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Neurology, Zoology, Botany

Allahabad University MSc Admission Criteria

Admission to the M.Sc program at Allahabad University is based on the Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT), conducted by the university. Candidates who qualify the entrance exam are then required to participate in the counselling process for seat allocation. Seats will be allotted on the basis of cutoff marks set by the university, availability of seats, reservation criteria, and other factors.

PGAT Exam Pattern

The exam consists of a total of 150 questions.
The total marks of the exam are 300
A correct answer is allocated 2 marks.
The time to complete the article is 3 hours.

Allahabad University MSc Application Process

If the candidate is eligible, then the candidate can visit the official website and click on the admission tab.
The application form for the entrance will be available for the related course, the candidate needs to fill in the necessary details and documents carefully.
After filling the application, the candidate should make payment
The candidate would be given the admit card a few days before the Entrance Exam.

Allahabad University MSc Course Details

MSc is offered in 23 specializations including Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Applied Geology, Physics, Psychology, Statistics, Food and Nutrition, Material Science, Mathematics, Defense and Strategic Studies, Agriculture Science, Anthropology, and Chemistry.

Here are the important credit requirements and exam requirement for popular specializations:

Defence and Strategic Studies
- Semester 1 has a total of 20 credits and 400 marks.
- Semester 2 has a total of 20 credits and 400 marks.
- Semester 3 has a total of 24 credits and 500 marks.
- Semester 4 has a total of 19 credits and 400 marks.
Geology
- In the first year, the total no of credits required is 46 and the second year is 41.
- Each year there are 5 papers and 2 practical papers of 100 marks each.
- Each paper is divided into two section- The end semester exam which is 60 marks and the sessional exam which is 40 marks.
- Sessional exam marks are allotted on the basis of class test/ quiz/ GD/ seminar/ mid-session exams.
Statistics
- There are 5 papers in the first 3 semesters each consisting of 3 theory papers, 1 elective paper and 1 lab exam.
- In the last semester, there are 3 theory paper, 1 lab activity, and 1 research work.
- Each paper consist of 100 marks
- Credit hours in each semester are 23 hours; 5 for theory and elective paper and 3 for lab activity.
- The course offer specialization in Electronics, X-Ray, Solid State Physics, and Spectroscopy
Botany
- Each semester has 20 credits; 3 hours for theory papers and 5 for lab work.
- There are a total of 6 papers in each semester and each paper is 100 marks.
- Each paper is divided into two section- The end semester exam which is 60 marks and the sessional exam which is 40 marks.
- Internal assessment marks are given on the basis of 4 categories: 10 marks for the class test,10 marks for mid semester exam, 5 marks for an assignment, and 5 marks for Power Point presentation
