Allahabad University LLB Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for LLB admission at Allahabad University, candidates must fulfil the following requirements:
- Any applicant who has graduated in a discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent.
- The applicant who has obtained 10+2 or graduation or post graduation through the open university system directly without having any prior qualification for prosecuting such studies is not eligible for admission in the law courses.
Foreign Nationals: Non-Resident Indians (citizen of India domiciled abroad) who have graduated from a foreign University, shall not be required to appear in the Admission Test.
Allahabad University LLB Admission Process
Candidates seeking admission to LLB must clear the Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT), conducted by the university.
Allahabad University LLB Selection Process
The minimum score required by the candidates to qualify the admission test is as follows.
- General Category - 30% & OBC category – 27%
- However, there is no qualifying mark for SC/ST, PH, and EW/TW category students.
- Admission to Allahabad University or a constituent college thereof shall be made by the process of counseling.
- The candidates shortlisted in PGAT will be intimated for the counseling process where they will be submitting the required supporting documents along with the required fee.
- Students who have passed the eligibility examination for the year 2024-25 a deduction of 5% marks for every gap year from the total marks would be made. The maximum deduction would be 15%.

Allahabad University LLB Entrance Syllabus
For the Three year-long LL.B course, the candidates must appear for the Law Admission Test.
(LAT) comprising 150 questions of 300 marks. Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
The paper is divided into three sections each carrying 100 marks:
- Part I: Language Comprehension
- Hindi: 25 questions
- English: 25 questions
- Part II: General Awareness & Current Affairs consisting of 50 questions
- Part III: Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude
- Reasoning and Mental Ability: 25 questions
- Legal Aptitude: 25 questions
Allahabad University LLB Admit Card
The candidates must download their Admit Cards one week before the Entrance Test.

Note: The foreign/ NRI candidates/ candidates exempted from appearing in the Law Admission Test should fill the application form through a separate procedure.
Allahabad University LLB Application Process
Candidates can apply for admission in the UG LAW course by registering at www.aupravesh.com
Candidates must log on to the university website and follow the given steps:
- Candidates should fill the application form online with all the relevant information.
- Upload the academic documents.
- Next, the student should submit the application fee through the online payment modes available on the portal.(e-banking/credit card/debit card).
- Candidates must save the generated registration number and keep a print out of the complete application form.
- The registered candidates can appear in LAT only after downloading the admit card
All applications for the Test shall be provisional. If the candidate has filled in any wrong information, his admission may be canceled at any stage.
Documents Required
Candidates whose name is in the Merit or Waiting list must bring the following documents-

- Requisite Fee
- Required Photographs
- The original and Self-attested photocopies of marksheets/certificates mentioned in the application form.
Admission shall not be given to the candidates in the absence of any of the required documents.

The University offers 373 seats for LLB & BA.LLB programs. Allahabad University follows the rules and regulations as per the Government of India, UGC and BCI for the reservation of seats. The seats reserved for different categories are tabulated below:

Getting admission at Allahabad University is easier compared to premier institutes like DU and JNU. For PG courses, getting admission can be a little difficult, due to the limited number of seats. Allahabad University offers many different subject combinations for BA. You will be allotted a preplanned subject combination based on your marks. You can’t choose the subjects one by one on your own. You will need to choose a combination of subjects clubbed together and prepared by the university.

If you want a career in litigation, then Allahabad University is a good option. You will get ample time and resources to build required skills. Allahabad High Court and lower courts will assist in clearing your basics and make you a professional. It is a good option for judicial services too. You will be able to manage your preparations, as attendance rules aren’t strict.
But for corporate sector jobs, Allahabad University isn’t a good option. Very few companies visit the campus placements.
Allahabad University law degrees are cost-effective compared to NLUs. The total tuition fee for LLB at the university is only INR 2.3 Lakhs. Also, Allahabad isn’t a costly city.
BHU will be a better option for pursuing a BA degree. It offers excellent academics and learning resources. The university has a good research culture. Compared to Allahabad University, it has a better faculty. It also has a better brand name.
You can choose Allahabad University if you want to go for Civil Services. The environment on the university campus is convenient for Civil Service preparation.
There is no such official syllabus for Allahabad University BA entrance. You can follow Lucent General Knowledge, it covers most of the syllabus for subject tests, except for logic, Urdu, and Sanksrit. The questions asked in General Awareness, and General mental ability tests are simple. You will be able to solve these questions easily. For subject tests, the questions will be of intermediate level.

Allahabad University offers a good campus experience. The architecture of the main campus is beautiful. Students are provided with ample facilities and resources. The university library has a decent collection of course books. The environment on campus is adaptable. You will meet people from all over the country on campus. The seniors are helpful.
AU has strict rules and regulations regarding attendance and uniforms. At times, you may feel like, you are still in school.
For B.Sc, Allahabad University will be better. AU has a better Science faculty. The syllabus and course structure will give you an edge over other universities. The departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest instruments and technologies. Each department of the university has a well-qualified faculty pool. Overall, you will get a better learning experience at AU.
Allahabad University is known for its Arts faculty. In the Arts faculty, there are 15 different departments. The main campus alone takes about 2000 students each year.
The cutoff varies each year depending on different factors. However, the competition is not that tough. If you have done about 60 questions out of 150 correctly then you can easily get selected. In 2021, the required cutoff for all categories in the first round was 186. However, to get hostel accommodation will have to secure around 220 marks.
Allahabad University LLB will be a better option. Being a central university it offers better academics and resources. The Law faculty of Allahabad University is excellent. The environment on campus is competitive and inspires learning. As a student of AU, you will also have a locational advantage, since Allahabad Highcourt is located closer to the campus.
