Ques

Is Mizoram University a good option for a B.Tech?

● Top Answer By Hiten Patel on 20 Jan 22

Ans
One of my friends studied at Mizoram University (MZU). According to him, it is not a good choice to opt for MZU to pursue engineering. Here are some reasons why: The infrastructure is not at par with other Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).  Students are not allowed to use the multimedia lab, also they lack updated technologies. The curriculum is obsolete and does not match with the latest industrial requirements.  The content that is taught here will not extend your skill set or make you more employable.  In the final year, every student is required to undergo Industrial Training for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 45 days. There is no scope for any internships.  The faculty members are not competent and lack fundamental knowledge of their respective subjects. The hostels often face insufficient electricity and water supply. The mess food is not at all hygienic. Students have complained to authorities about these issues but they pay no attention to them. The wifi connection is also unstable. Placements are not up to the mark. Getting placed in service-oriented companies like Wipro, TCS, etc. is seen as an accomplishment. Therefore, it is suggested that you do not opt for MZU to study engineering, because it will not be worthwhile. As you will learn less and even fall out of job opportunities.

Ques

Which would be a wiser decision: CSE in Mizoram University or ECE in Heritage Institute of technology?

● Top Answer By Ankita Ghosh on 22 Sept 21

Ans
One of my cousins is a recent alumnus of Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), and as per what he defines, it is best that you join it rather than going at Mizoram University. Following are the reasons for choosing HIT:  The professors assist students in their research work. They encourage them to build a profile for pursuing an M.S. The faculty is cooperative and supportive. Heritage is one of the best institutes to pursue an M.S or M.Tech, basically because it has competent faculty strength, with a fundamental experience backdrop. The major upside is the laboratory amenities that are even capable of competing against the top IITs of the nation. The placement percentage is quite fruitful for departments like ECE, CSE, IT, AEIE. The majority of placements have been seized away mostly by the IT and CSE students. The placement percentage however is pretty much on the lower side for departments like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, etc. If you do not obtain a seat at institutes like Jadavpur University and IIEST, it is best that you choose HIT. The ECE department (VLSI) of HIT has recently begun to lead the Eastern India Colleges in “India Chip program”, an initiative taken forward by Digital India. In a way, the department of ECE is one of the best in the institute. Categories ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology Course Fee 4.04 lakh Placement Percentage 80-90% Highest CTC 16-18 LPA Average CTC 8-9 LPA Recruiting Companies Accenture, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, HP, etc. However, before diving into conclusion, it is best that you research more deeply about the prospects both institutes share and determine which is best to go for, at the end of the day.

Ques

What is Mizoram University like for a B.Tech in CSE?

● Top Answer By Supratik Kumar on 20 Jan 22

Ans
Firstly, there is no CSE department in Mizoram University. The department they have is Computer Engineering (CE) and not Computer Science Engineering. The CE department has an intake capacity of 30 students. Out of 30 intake, 15 students are taken through JEE main and 15 students are taken through MZUEEE (Mizoram University Engineering Entrance Examination). There are 3 computer labs with 30+ computers. All classrooms are equipped with ICT facilities.  Categories CE at Mizoram University Course Fee INR 6.85 lakh Placement Percentage 50-60% Highest CTC 10 LPA Average CTC 3-5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, etc. Their focus is to impart quality education in theories and practical knowledge. The students will gain industrial exposure through seminars, industry visits and internships conducted by the institution. Thus, CE at MZU will be a good choice.

Ques

How is it in Mizoram University?

● Top Answer By Anurag Gupta on 20 Jan 22

Ans
Mizoram University is a central university under the UGC, Government of India. The university is dominated by greenery and also has a biodiversity park. The Students Council of the University (MZU-SC) is primarily responsible for building and preserving a healthy political culture in the campus. They have 4 girls' hostels with one more under construction. They have a capacity of about 100+ girls. There are 7 units of a boys' Hostel with a capacity of 100+ students available. One more building is under construction. The campus also has a University Guesthouse for guests and students. There is also a Church inside the campus. There are 9 Schools functioning in the campus. These include: The School of Economics, Management and Information Sciences, Earth Sciences and Natural Resources Management, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Education and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Fine Arts, Architecture and Fashion and lastly, the School of Medical and Paramedical. According to the reviews by the students online, they are more or less satisfied with the university. They have a diverse student crowd with students from all backgrounds and cultures. The Aizawl district is a bit costly for living, but the overall ambience is really good. You will get to see picturesque hills from the college, which is definitely soothing. So, overall it is a decent choice to study at MZU.

Ques

Is Mizoram University a good option for an online MBA digital marketing program?

● Top Answer By Shrestha Dey on 20 Jan 22

Ans
According to the reviews online, it is suggested that you check the detailed curriculum of the course and its collaboration with the industry. This will tell you if hands-on learning opportunities are possible along with frequent visits from industry experts. Digital marketing has a huge demand nowadays. Lots of companies are trying to harness the power of Social Media to improve their business, sales, brand image and customer retention.  Digital Marketing is a very good choice for a professional course, companies like Google also run short term certification courses on Digital Marketing. Check if the faculty is also equipped with the proper background of Digital Marketing. If all these check out, you can then opt for this program. Read books by Drayton Bird on Digital marketing, Armstrong on Persuasive marketing, Gary Halbert letters and Million Dollar Mailing by Denny Hatch. Get practical experience by working with a company in retail sales or B-B sales.

Ques

How is the M.Tech course in Mizoram University? Is there a placement in an MZU M.Tech?

● Top Answer By Arpita Sinha on 20 Jan 22

Ans
M.Tech in the Mizoram university is very new and will take a bit to settle, so the placement is not quite good.  The students collaborate with NIT Mizoram students to send the companies so that the process of placement could be completed. But the package they offer is not at all satisfying for the students. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has started M.Tech. and Ph.D. Programme from academic session 2017-18. Along with this 2 more M.Tech. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Power and Energy Systems Engineering; Ph.D. programme in Electrical Engineering started their academic sessions from the year 2018-19. The placements will take time to improve but currently it is average, so if you prefer self learning and training only then opt for MZU, otherwise go for more experienced colleges.

Ques

Which would be a wiser decision: CSE in Mizoram University or ECE in Heritage Institute of technology?

● Top Answer By Rohan Das on 20 Jan 22

Ans
Among both these institutes it will be better if you go for ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) than CE at Mizoram University (MZU). HIT provides students with better scope and opportunities for the future, be it placements or research. The faculty members are highly experienced and very helpful.  HIT has one of the finest engineering labs with top notch facilities matching the latest industry trends and needs. HIT has a partnership with TCS which conducts mass recruitments in the campus placement hiring the maximum number of students. TCS offers students a salary package of 6-7 LPA. Other than TCS, other reputed companies also participate in their placement program like Cognizant, Accenture, Wipro, HCL and many more. The students with a good academic record receive a salary package of 15-20 LPA. Categories ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology CE at Mizoram University Course Fee INR 4.04 LPA INR 6.85 lakh Placement Percentage 70-80% 50-60% Highest CTC 28 LPA 10 LPA Average CTC 8-10 LPA 3-5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, HCL, etc. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, etc. Therefore, as HIT provides such better opportunities for students it is recommended that you go for it rather than choosing MZU.
