Government Aizawl West College was established on May 2, 1990. It is affiliated to North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). It offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) course in Economics, Education, English, History, Political Science, Psychology and Public Administration streams. The college aims at imparting Quality Education in a proper academic atmosphere for both boys and girls. It has all necessary facilities like spacious library, laboratory, medical facility, sports facility and games facility etc.

The mission of college is to develop personality through quality education, build the institution on the foundation of spiritual, moral and cultural values, impart value-based education with avowed aims of helping needy students and instill self-confidence, sensibility and responsibility in the students.
