Is NIT Trichy better than IIT Mandi?

● Top Answer By Tridiv Banerjee on 25 Feb 22

Ans
Yes NIT Trichy is better than IIT Mandi.  NITT is the best NIT in the country. It is better than all new IITs. In recent years, it has been giving good competition to some of the old IITs as well.  NITT has a great placement record. In last year’s placement, the average CTC offered was INR 6.5 LPA. The highest CTC offered was INR 42 LPA. Other than placement statistics, NIT Trichy is well known for its technical fest. Pragyan the technical fest of NITT has been ranked among the best in the nation. Being a new IIT, IIT Mandi still doesn’t have a good infrastructure. It also doesn’t have good industry recognition. NIT Trichy on the other hand is old and well-reputed in the corporate world.

Ques

How is the hostel life and campus life at IIT Mandi? At what level is ragging at IIT Mandi?

● Top Answer By Sree Dasgupta on 20 Apr 23

Ans
If you're considering studying at IIT Mandi, here are some points you might find useful: Ragging is not something you need to worry about at IIT Mandi. The seniors are helpful and supportive. The smaller batch strength (compared to other IITs) at IIT Mandi comes with its own advantages. You get opportunities to work on projects even if you have no prior knowledge, as long as you're willing to learn. Unlike other bigger institutions where hundreds of students stay in one hostel, at IIT Mandi, you have clusters of hostels with about 150 students in each hostel. In your first year, you'll stay together with almost the whole batch, but in later years, you get to stay with awesome seniors in your hostel. Some seniors even hold positions in technical secretariats and club coordinators, making it a great environment to work in. You can join clubs and be part of the core team as long as you're willing to work. If you're concerned about placements, rest assured that top companies come for placement and internship drives at IIT Mandi. The institute was placed 6th in median salary. In terms of drawbacks, the sports facilities at IIT Mandi aren't quite up to the mark, but this is expected to improve with more students returning to campus and a new Director taking charge. The roads have been in bad shape this season, but repairs are expected as soon as the weather permits. On the brighter side, there are some fun fests at IIT Mandi to lighten the mood. While not all fests are legendary, Exodia and Rann-Neeti are quite awesome if you get involved. Even the intra-college fests are cool and enjoyable. The sports culture here is just awesome, not just on the campus but even in Mandi, where people are great sports enthusiasts. You can also showcase your technical and non-technical talents at various events. And there's unlimited high-speed internet, although with some restrictions to make you think and explore for solutions.

Ques

Who is/was the most inspiring senior at IIT Mandi?

● Top Answer By Shubham Saxena on 20 Mar 21

Ans
Swapnil Sharma, a CS student at IIT Mandi and Shreyas Bapat of first year. He's a man who did Gsoc in Open Astronomy, placed around 40 lakh packages in Code Nation, and still contributes to SunPy for Summer of Code in Space even after placement. He had been earning freelancing since his first year. His belief in the productiveness of time usage is awesome, and that would continue to inspire students throughout their college life. Likewise, Shreyas is a kind of person who would not want to include some points in his resume that others would find lucky to have; because this guy has done a lot of hell! He gave a flash talk at PyCon India, where eminent personalities like the creator of the Pandas Python Library were present. He has created his own organization, Einstein, which is selected for Socis and can be selected for Gsoc next year, and Shreyas is in charge of the 3rd year Btech students at IIT Bombay and Georgia Tech University. Although his branch is electrical, he is probably one of the best astro-python developers in the world. These two seniors are the most inspiring seniors of IIT Mandi, and they both are also ex-coordinators of Space Technology and Astronomy Cell, (STAC) which is an internationally renowned Astronomy club at IIT Mandi.

Ques

What is it like to live in IIT Mandi's Kamand Campus?

● Top Answer By Amit Bakshi on 16 Mar 21

Ans
IIT Mandi is excellently portrayed with the verse that IIT Mandi cannot have boundaries. With the beauty of nature all around, the campus of IIT Mandi and its surroundings are bliss to the eye. The points below give a brief vision of the campus of IIT Mandi. Traveling towards the campus, there are clouds all around or crossing by some river at times in the way. Visiting the campus, students get mesmerized at their first sight into the unsymmetrical and beautiful natural creation. The hostel and D2 mess are situated just at the footstep of hills, with lots of free space all-around. The roads that connect IIT Mandi and its surroundings are narrow hilly-lanes, with amazing scenic beauty. There is a place close to a valley known as T-point, which is a must-visit. There are mountaineer dogs on the campus, who become friends after staying inside for quite some time. Therefore, a place like IIT Mandi is worth staying and students once having lived there, don’t like any other campus compared to IIT Mandi.

Ques

Is IIT Mandi the most beautiful IIt campus?

● Top Answer By Arjun Purohit on 13 Apr 22

Ans
IIT Mandi isn’t necessarily the most beautiful IIT campus. The campus is certainly picturesque and unique. It is essentially a valley surrounded by mountains. The most unique feature of the campus is the Uhl river that flows through the campus.  Tourist places like Kullu-Manali, Prashar, and Rewalsar lakes are just a few hours drive away from the campus.  Weather at Mandi stays pleasant throughout the year. During summer temperature ranges between 25-30 degrees while during winter the minimum temptation is 0.  If you like to travel, you will love this place.
