Ques

Which college is better for an MCA, DU or NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Anand Rajput on 26 Apr 22

Ans
For an MCA, NIT Trichy will be better. It is known for its technical courses. NIT T will give you better learning opportunities for MCA. The institute offers hands-on learning opportunities. You will learn through assignments, presentations, tests, etc.  NIT Trichy MCA placements are pretty good. Every year around 90-95% of students get placements from the branch. The highest CTC offered in the recent placement drive for MCA was INR 40 LPA.

Ques

JNU or DU which is a better university?

● Top Answer By Pratik Bahera on 16 May 22

Ans
JNU is a better option, especially for postgraduate degrees. JNU has a different aura altogether. The environment on campus is extremely accepting. You will meet people on campus who are intellectuals, readers, writers, and speakers. Simply being on JNU campus can be rewarding. It has a different culture entirely which motivates the holistic development of personality. JNU has an excellent faculty base.  In financial terms as well JNU is a better option. The course fees and hostel fees are lower compared to DU. As per JNU University course fees, an MSc degree costs around INR 692.

Which is better BHU or DU?

● Top Answer By Anumita Sinha on 13 May 22

Ans
To say, one of these is better than the other will be an oversimplification. You should choose BHU or DU based on the course you are interested in. Here is a streamwise comparison of DU and BHU.  Arts - For English and Economics, DU is better. BHU courses are better for Sanskrit, Hindi, Geography, and Philosophy. For the rest of these subjects, these institutes are at a similar level.  Science - BHU is slightly ahead for most of the science stream.  Commerce - For commerce courses, DU is definitely better.  Engineering - It won’t be fair to compare IIT BHU with DU. The former is way ahead of the latter.  Management - FMS is a tier 1 B-School and arguably the best non-IIM school in the country. IMS BHU ranks nowhere near FMS.  Law - For law degrees, DU has a slight advantage because of its location.  Medical - IMS BHU is one of the best medical institutes in the country.  Academics are more or less the same at BHU and DU. However, big names like St. Stephens, SRCC, LSR, etc. are a little ahead of BHU in terms of teaching quality. BHU offers better research facilities, especially for science courses. DU is way ahead of BHU in terms of corporate jobs and civil services.  BHU offers a better campus experience compared to DU. But if we talk about location, choosing a metropolitan city, that too Delhi will be more advantageous. You will have greater exposure and opportunities.  If you are getting into one of the top colleges at DU. You should go for it. If you are getting an average college, it’s still better to prefer DU for Commerce, Economics and English. BHU science faculty is good. If you are interested in a Science degree, you can choose BHU.

Ques

What are the best student organizations or clubs to join at the University of Delhi? Why should students join them?

● Top Answer By Devdarshini Dey on 22 Jun 21

Ans
One of my close friends graduated from the University of Delhi and here are some interesting things I got to know from him - Delhi University is a place where you can polish yourself. Both with a holistic and academic approach. Each college has its various societies formed by students like music, theatre, dance, literature, debating, NSS, NCC, etc. Students clubs and organizations include Dramatics Societies, Dance Societies, Music Societies, Fashion Societies, Photography Societies, Literature Societies, NSS, and Sports clubs. You need to participate in quite a few social groups in college for their overall development and to build up a good CV. You should make the best of the opportunity that comes in the way. The benefits of joining and working in college societies play an immense role at the placements. Corporates would love to hire an already experienced student. Good academics along with participating in extracurricular activities gives you an edge professionally. While going through the process of joining societies many colleges require students to pass either an interview or an audition. Selecting a society to join requires a good understanding of the area of interest and hobbies. Gear yourself up for an enriching experience at the Delhi University.

Ques

What is it like to do English Hons from Delhi University?

● Top Answer By Manav Batra on 25 Oct 21

Ans
If you are a reading enthusiast and loves to write with a great hold of Grammar, go for English Hons. You should not choose this as your 2nd option because the course is very hectic and requires a lot of concentration and interest.  English Hons is often misunderstood only with British Literature which is not true. You will be reading literature around the world including American, African, European, and Indian.  You must be regular to lectures as they are highly recommended. The faculty at Delhi University for this course is exceptional and their teachings should not be missed. You may find everything online but attending classes has its own advantages.  You will definitely enjoy your experience in the classes while interacting with teachers. It is important to note that your attendance will play a major role in internal assessment.

What are some disadvantages of pursuing a B.Com P instead of a B.Com Hons from Delhi University?

● Top Answer By Deepika Sinha on 17 Jun 22

Ans
The main disadvantage of pursuing a B.Com P instead of B.Com Hons is the syllabus. Delhi University B.Com Hons syllabus has a perfect blend of theory and practical subjects. You can also specialize in some subjects. B.Com Hons covers the subjects in more detail compared to B.Com P.  This is why recruiters prefer B.Com Hons students over B.Com P students. If you are planning on pursuing CA or CS, then pursuing B.Com (H) will be better.

What are the differences between NCWEB and SOL offered by DU Do they have different exams or the same?

● Top Answer By Aditi Pattanaik on 28 Sept 21

Ans
NCWEB stands for ‘Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board’ where only women can take admission to the University of Delhi. The classes are held only on Sundays. You need to be from Delhi or have to complete your higher secondary from a school that is in Delhi. SOL, on the other hand, stands for ‘School of Open Learning’ whose syllabus is offered by the NCWEB. Both women and men can take admission here.  The exams are conducted on different dates. The syllabus of SOL and NCWEB are the same.  NCWEB will give you singing and dancing opportunities and also in other areas. It offers two undergraduate courses like B.A Program and B.Com. For SOL, the students are offered courses like B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), B.A. (Hons.), M.A., and other courses in the streams of Arts and Commerce.

What is the difference between SOL and regular college in DU?

● Top Answer By Divya Rohira on 28 Sept 21

Ans
There is no difference between the courses followed by SOL at the University of Delhi. However, once the semester system was started in the regular colleges under the University, some differences have been seen. There is nothing to worry about, though. The syllabus of SOL is good. The courses offered in SOL are year wise whereas the coursework of the regular colleges is semester-wise. SOL is basically for those candidates who are also employed. All the processes are carried out online. It offers courses like M.A., M.Com, B.Com (Hons.), etc.
