Both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras are highly reputed institutes, and both have excellent electrical engineering departments. It is challenging to declare one institute as definitively better than the other as both are highly regarded and have their unique strengths. However, here are some points to consider that might help you in making a decision:
In terms of faculty, both IIT Delhi and IIT Madras have highly qualified and experienced professors, who are experts in their fields. However, the research output of IIT Delhi's electrical department is slightly higher than that of IIT Madras.
In terms of infrastructure and facilities, both institutes are well-equipped with state-of-the-art labs and equipment. However, IIT Madras has a larger and more extensive campus, which includes several research centers and facilities, making it a hub for cutting-edge research in the field of electrical engineering.
Both institutes have excellent placement records, with several reputed companies visiting the campus for recruitment. However, IIT Delhi has a slightly higher average placement package compared to IIT Madras.
Choosing between the two ultimately comes down to personal preferences and priorities. If you value research and a wider range of facilities, IIT Madras may be a better choice. However, if you prioritize placement opportunities and slightly higher research output, IIT Delhi may be the better choice.
I will do a brief comparison between the MBA programs of the 2 institutes based on common parameters and leave the final call for you to make
Now weigh the pros and cons of both and make a wise decision based on the same.
The overall time spent at IIT Delhi is an exhilarating experience you will never forget in your life. The sense of freedom, new friends, and a new city will completely transform you. You will gain knowledge of both academics and life-related issues.
You will make new friends in the hostel that will be with you in every struggle you face in your daily life be it academically or socially. The seniors will be your guiding light and teach you things that will save you from making foolish decisions and advice on important matters. In general everyone you will meet will be so full of knowledge and abilities that your motivation will always touch the sky. Some were fabulous sportspeople and taught winning strategies.
The teachers are the most cherished treasures of IIT Delhi. They are the best you can find and their humble aura and dress up will not let you realize their achievements and knowledge bar.
At IIT Delhi you can experience college life in the real sense. The cultural fests, night outs, parties and so many Clubs to join like BSW and BRCA make you create tons of memories. You will be left with memories of hanging out with friends at favorite spots of IITIans like Priya and PVR Saket, Hauz Khas village, SDA market, Pragati maidan, and Select Walk.
Overall, the time spent at IIT Delhi will groom your personality in the real sense making you smarter, wiser, and more humble than ever.
Without any second thoughts, I consider IIT Bombay a much better option than IIT Delhi. Some reasons that speak in favor of my opinion are
So both the institutes are elite in their own essence but nowadays IIT Bombay is a clear winner between the two.
IIT Delhi has a total of 18 hostels for men, and 2 hostels for women. Each hostel has its mess hall that serves decent quality food. The general trend in most hostels is Breakfast>>Lunch>=Dinner. The mess menu is decided in winter/summer semester-wise separately and generally doesn't change throughout the semester.
A variety of dishes are served and the taste is also very good. Additionally, there are night messes till 4 am where you can munch on paranthe, momos, and Chinese. Some eateries that serve excellent snacks are Hollistic for juices and shakes, Rajdhani, Chaayos, CCD, Staff Canteen, and many more. Some combinations of meals served in the mess are
A schedule is followed for mess food in every hostel. In which, sometimes the items served may differ. But the variety and quality of the food are excellent making it one of the motivating factors for students.
If you're considering pursuing an M.Tech in construction management, you might be wondering which institute is better between IIT Madras and IIT Delhi. According to my knowledge cutoff of 2021, IIT Madras has an edge over IIT Delhi for this program.
The reason behind this is that IIT Madras has strong ties with senior management offices of L&T and other major construction firms, which provides a great networking opportunity for students. While the quality of professors and curriculum may be subjective, the proximity of IIT Madras to these companies is not.
If you choose to study at IIT Madras, you can expect to be challenged to excel in your studies, as the program is demanding. However, this challenging curriculum is accompanied by excellent professors who can guide you through the course material. Additionally, IIT Madras has a beautiful campus that can enhance your overall experience as a student.
In summary, if you're looking for a program that can provide you with networking opportunities and excellent professors, IIT Madras is a great option to consider for your M.Tech in construction management.
IIT Delhi has a total of 18 hostels for men, and 2 hostels for women. Each hostel is equipped with basic amenities such as a common room, a reading room, and mess hall. The hostels also have 24-hour security and medical facilities. Additionally, the hostels have a common room, an indoor games room, and a gym.
The buildings are old given the time they were built, yet the facilities are decent. First-year students are allotted triple occupancy rooms while some are allotted double. This depends on the hostel you are assigned as each hostel has different maps and infrastructure. A typical room in an IIT Delhi has:
All these basic amenities make students stay comfortable. After all, hostel life is all about making memories and new friends.
Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi.
Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians.
IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.
My sister was a student at IIT Delhi in Textile Engineering and shared the disappointing experience that made her regret her decision a lot. The department is in its infancy and is the least demanded branch. Likewise, it offers the least average package at around INR 13 LPA and the lowest at INR 6 LPA.
The branch does not do justice to the institute's brand name and thus I strongly recommend you against joining Textile Engineering at IIT Delhi.
I don’t think anyone choosing IIT Delhi over any other engineering college has made a wrong decision given the opportunities and life experiences that come with it. While both are crucial, your choice of Institute is more important than your branch.
Here is a friend's journey for your reference l was a BTech student (Civil) at IIT BHU with a rank of 3600.
This journey of a 7-pointer Civil Branch student to a high-tech CS company proves that branch does not matter in the end. He made the most of his campus life and kept struggling to switch his branch and eventually succeeded. That being said, you have made the right decision as only IIT Delhi can give you the right set of opportunities and exposure and not DTU.
