Placement Experience:

B.Tech 4th-year 1st year will be the period when you will get the opportunity to face on-campus placements. There were a quite few companies such as VEDANTA, POWER GRID, ONGC, and many more that come for placements. Each year around 40-50 people get the opportunity to receive on-campus placements. Last semester's highest package was 12.00 LPA and the average is about 8.00 LPA. the percentage is about 42%. My plans will be off-campus placements

Internships Opportunities:

there were many invitations from private training centres such as TRTC guwahati, Edureva, etc. and even from government sites such as BSNL, Power Grid etc. for both undergraduate and diploma students. Last time I did my internship at BSNL Agartala and the topic they taught us Mobile communication.

Ques

What is it like to study at NERIST?

● Top Answer By Ashmita Doli on 31 Aug 21

Ans
My brother recently graduated from the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST). The institute has a great blend of diversity, unlike any other institutes in India. 90% of the seats are for the eight north-eastern states with an equal number of seats. 10% of the reserved seats are for the all-India quota. You will get to learn about different cultures and lifestyles.  The infrastructure of the institute is great. There are hostels, lecture centers, laboratory facilities, auditorium, convenience store, canteen, medical facilities available on campus.  Apart from the cultural aspect, the college fee is low, and the professors are graduates from top IITs and NITs. It gives an edge to NERIST over other institutes.

Ans
One of my cousins is a part of NERIST Arunachal Pradesh, and here is what she has to say about the institution. NERIST Arunachal Pradesh has a spectacular background. Ques

Is NERIST good in terms of placement?

● Top Answer By Ramya Sagar on 10 Sept 21

Ans
NERIST was once considered one of the best institutes in the region. The placement record was remarkable and according to the standard of the industry.  However, the quality of the institute has started to fall in the current situation. It does not fit as per the mark of a Regional deemed university. Companies like Tech Mahindra, Power grid corporation, Wipro, Oil India, Infosys, Cummin India, TCS, visit the campus nowadays.  Categories NERIST Placement Percentage 60% Highest CTC 10-12 LPA Average CTC 3.6 LPA The institute is expecting more recruiters as there is a railway facility in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from on-campus placements, you can also look for off-campus placements and government jobs.

● Top Answer By Rishabh Chandani on 08 Sept 21

Ans
Both NERIST and SLIET have the same education structure, which includes courses such as ITI, Diploma, and Degree with specialization in a core engineering trade. Both universities are excellent and provide opportunities. SLIET stands for West, whereas NERIST stands for East. So, choose according to your convenience.

Ques

Is it good to join NERIST after 10th?

● Top Answer By Barun Sen on 10 Sept 21

Ans
It will be more beneficial if you join NERIST after class 10th than after 12th because the first 2 semesters will cover the syllabus from 11th and 12th Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as well. Apart from the technical and theoretical knowledge, proper exposure will be offered. Civil students are taught courses like surveying, construction, building construction, water supply engineering. These are mostly taught in the 3rd and 4th semesters. By the end of the 5th semester, you will get a lot of exposure equivalent to class 12th.  Overall NERIST is good, considering infrastructure, facilities provided and events held. The only thing that could be improved is the quality of the food. They can try making it more hygienic.

Ques

What is it like to study CS in NERIST?

● Top Answer By Writupriya Hazra on 10 Sept 21

Ans
CSE in NERIST is not a great option in terms of money and time. As one of my friends studied there, here’s what I got to know about it: The syllabus hasn’t been updated to the latest needs.  Some of the professors have no teaching experience. They are more focused on students mugging up rather than learning. You will be taught languages that are no longer properly working in the industry.  The labs here are messy and no the library is too small to accommodate a large group of students.  The local Arunchali students tend to boss around and threaten everyone. The non local teachers also fear the local students and hence they give them better marks, to avoid the commotion.  Categories CS at NERIST Course Fee 22,300 Highest CTC 10 LPA Average CTC 3.3 LPA Recruiting Companies Godrej, Infosys, Sony, GAIL, etc. Moreover, the environment is not academic-friendly. The placements earlier were very bad but have improved eventually. CS has few such good teachers who really care about their students and how much they are actually learning.

Ques

Could anyone give me some insight about NERIST?

● Top Answer By Archana Roy on 10 Sept 21

Ans
The hostel and the campus itself is very good and some of the key highlights are: - The majority of the students are from North India so it caters to their needs giving them the preference. This provides the students time to explore the culture, language, and sensibilities. They have very good sporting facilities. The campus has 7 boys’ and 2 girls’ hostels.  The campus is very beautiful and is near a river with greenery all around. It provides an ideal environment for academics.

Ques

Will I get a seat at NERIST (2021) as I secured the 7th position in the waiting list of Assam?

● Top Answer By Anumita Roy on 04 Sept 21

Ans
From your question, it’s not quite clear which examination you took. NERIST conducts 3 examinations, i.e. NEE1, NEE2, and NEE3. You can appear for NEE1 after HSLC. NEE2 is for after the 12th. NEE3 is for after graduation.  If you have taken NEE1 or NEE2, there are good chances that you will be selected. Most students do their 10+2 and don’t join. For NEE2, students leave their seats, if they receive a better college.  However, for diploma students, it is one of the best colleges available in the Northeast. So, if you are a diploma student then it will be quite difficult to get admission with your rank.

Ques

What is the condition of NERIST?

● Top Answer By Sristi Mitra on 04 Sept 21

Ans
One of the friends is currently studying at NERIST and according to him the condition is developing and getting better over time. The campus has 24 hours wifi facility, enabling you to explore and look for opportunities. Although all of the departments are not in good condition, CSE and ECE departments were not functioning to their proper extent. With time it is getting better. Facilities offered at other departments are not the best but decent.  Overall, NERIST is a good place to study. You will learn a lot and get to meet many people from different backgrounds and cultures.
