Important Updates for EFLU

CUET PG 2024 registration is likely to start before December 25, 2023. The NTA will conduct CUET PG 2024 from March 11 – 28, 2024. While CUET UG 2024 exam will be held from May 15 to May 31. Students can fill out the application form on the official website @cuet.nta.nic.in

ELFLU Hyderabad has decided to conduct its UG admissions through CUET 2023 Exam. The CUET UG 2023 exam will be conducted between May 21 and May 31, 2023. NTA will release the CUET UG 2023 application form in the first week of February 2023. Interested candidates can apply online through the official website at cuet.samarth.ac.in.

EFLU B.A & B.Ed Admission 2023

The B.Ed programme has a participatory approach that requires the participants to take part in cultural activities, co-curricular activities, and developing teaching aids. The duration of the BA programmes is 3 years whereas specialized Teacher Trainer Programme of B.Ed is a 2-year course.

The post graduate programmes follow a unique system which allows student to choose their courses of interest in a wide array of areas to select from, such as, literature, linguistics and English Language Education. The MA programme has three variants of which students can opt from Specialized MA, Bracketed MA, and General MA.

The five areas of specialization for the courses offered are Teaching of English as Second Language (TESL), Media and Communication (M&C), Linguistics (Ling.), English Literature (Eng. Lit.) and Literary and Cultural Studies (LCS).

The university has a broad set of doctoral programmes for students to encourage the research in different languages and interdisciplinary studies.

EFLU Distance Education Admission 2023

For these courses, candidate is required to request for an application for to the The Dean, School of Distance Education, The English and Foreign Languages University, Near Tarnaka, Hyderabad 500 007? and also enclose a crossed D.D. for INR 500/- (INR 250/- for SC/ST) which should be drawn in favour of “the Registrar, EFL University, Hyderabad 500 007”.

EFLU Application Process 2022

The application form can be downloaded from the university website. These must be submitted via compulsory online mode. The cost of application form for General/OBC candidates is INR 500/- whereas candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories should pay INR 250/- .

Candidate is required to visit the University website. The mode of filling application is online.
The online version of prospectus has all the related information regarding the courses offered by the University. He/she must go through the information carefully and fill in the application form accordingly.
Candidate must have a valid email id which should also be active during the time of the completion of the admission procedure.
He/she can only apply for two full time courses in one academic year. While applying for two courses, the candidate is required to fill in a single form and mention the names pay the entrance fee for both the programmes.
He/she is required to pay a non-refundable entrance test fee of INR 350/- through any mode of online payment for General/OBC/WDP candidates whereas INR 150/- in the case of SC/ST/PWD candidates.
The applicant should also upload their scanned photograph, signature, father’s/mother’s Aadhar card/Voter card/Ration card/Passport, caste certificate (in case the candidate is applying admission for a reserved seat in SC/ST/OBC quota). If it is needed, he/she should also upload a scanned copy of PWD (Person with Disability) or WDP (Ward of Defence Personnel) certificate.

Ques. Does EFLU offer any placement or internship program to students?

Ans. Yes, the university offers placements and internship opportunities in various top companies such as Amazon, Entrayn and Flipkart, Wipro, and many more with a decent package of 20k-50k per month. The placements usually occur by the end of March to mid-April every year.

Ques. What is the campus facility provided by EFLU?

Ans. The campus of EFLU is equipped with all the necessary facilities such as 24x7 Wifi enabled campus, transportation facilities, counseling center, guest house, a hostel for boys and girls, sports and gym areas, Cafeterias, and mess, Computer labs, hospital services. Admission process is easy, university have their own entrance test but now the criteria is totally changed for the academic year 2022 onwards, now the university came under cuet, which is a common university entrance test. so to taking admission one has to pass the cuet exam. the application process is totally online. Eligibility of a course is that one should have passed the 12th board exam or the candidate must be in the 12th class. All the details are available on the nta website or on the cuet.samarth.ac.in the government website. The reservation policy is according to the government policy. yes, one improvement I want to see in the admission process is that it should be more students friendly.

Remarks:

I have given the cuet paper and the cutoff for ba Spanish was above 350 marks out of 500 marks and for English it was above 420 to 440 marks,cuet means the central university entrance test, it is stated in 2021.

Ans

The entrance examination conducted by EFLU Hyderabad is not easy for English Honours because there are more than 20 centers where this test takes place. There are certain reservations as well which add up to 50% of all the seats. Even if we don’t consider these numbers, the level of competition will be a real challenge. Also, it is not called BA honors, it is just BA English. One great advantage that you have is that you get to learn a foreign language consecutively for two years. The language that you opt for depends on the merit scored by you in the entrance exam. Spanish and French are usually in good demand. The admission process for this year has been completed. This is not to discourage the students from taking admission but it is important to state the facts. Campuses at Lucknow and Shillong also offer such courses where competition is relatively less. You cannot transfer from one campus to another. If you prepare according to the previous years’ question papers and have a good command of English, then it is not that difficult to get into EFLU.

EFLU is an exclusive university for English. There are 29 departments, out of which 20 are in English. With so many micro-specialties, pursuing an MA in English from EFLU is a great option. The university gives a lot of freedom in choosing subjects in post-graduation. Post-graduation applicants get a pool of subjects to choose from in their degree at EFLU. EFLU conducts only one entrance test for admission in all streams. If you clear the entrance test you will get the chance to choose whichever subject you want to pursue. You can either choose all subjects from one department only or select subjects from several departments if you want to have a mixed degree. Even, you are allowed to change subjects till two weeks of the course. The linguistic department of EFLU is very famous all over India, because of its quality of education. It has a world-class set of faculties in the department, along with an extensive library for helping students in their coursework. The literature department of EFLU is not as good as other central universities in India. Although there are excellent professors here too, the scope for students in literature is limited. Considering the quality of the linguistics department in EFLU, it is a great option for English graduates. Because of the cafeteria system of choosing subjects, there is a lot of diversity in the department.

My younger sister is studying at EFLU Hyderabad. She stays at the Akkamahadevi Hostel for girls. According to her experience of the food and mess is average, with some pros and cons. You may want to read the following points- Firstly, there's a lot of baking soda in the food. But this is the case with hostels and messes food in general, at all Indian educational institutions. There is a mess near the campus namely Baichand which is even worse. Compared to it the EFLU mess isn’t the worst. At the mess, you can choose the timing for the breakfast. This is one of the best thing. You can visit this cafeteria next to Sagar stores, called Maitri. They serve delicious meals at all times. There are a lot of local vendors outside gate no. 2, where you can get a filling amount of dosa, idli, roti-sabzi, etc at reasonable prices.

One of my close friends studied at EFLU, Hyderabad, and here are some tips for you according to her experience. There is a canteen area termed Sagar where you usually see the same faces but may remain undisturbed. There is a small area laced with greenery where you can hang out. There is a small ground used for almost every sort of sport. If you are someone who enjoys reading, there is a rich library where you can stay absorbed in your studies. Most of your mates in the batch will be older than you if you have completed your education without any breaks or dropouts. Also, you will see a lot of foreigners on campus. They are mostly well-mannered and you never spot anyone misbehaving. Make sure that you make a couple of friends to hang around with as that will make your stay at the campus enjoyable.

Usually, the entrance test is held in late February or early March every year after submitting the online application form in early February. Since this year has seen COVID-related disruptions, the dates have been pushed back and you need to follow their website for further notifications. There are no other special criteria for the same. The basic criteria can be seen from the institute website. For every other year, it may have been late now, but for this year you need to keep an eye on the official notifications for the same.
