At Chester you have an opportunity to undertake a 5 to 8 week placement in Spain or Costa Rica at the end of Year 2 (Level 5). You will also have the opportunity to complete an academic year inÊ Spain or Latin America. This allows you to split your experience abroad between two countries and to spend time in both Spain and another Spanish speaking country.Ê
In your first year of Psychology and Spanish at the University of Chester, you will have the opportunity to study a further language from scratch.
If you are interested in a career in psychology, there are specialist routes through the course where you can take relevant elective modules at each level.
We also offer an optional further year of study abroad in Europe, the USA or Australia.
Job prospects
A degree in Spanish develops an impressive range of skills including strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to work autonomously and in groups, analytical and critical discernment and the resilience and confidence developed during placements abroad. Graduates often pursue further study or careers in translation, teaching, business, hospitality, the public sector and governmental or international organisations.
Many of our graduates go on to postgraduate studies in Psychology (e.g. Cognitive Neuroscience, Forensic and Sport Psychology) or have secured a graduate role in industries such as Marketing, Banking and Project Management due to their sought after transferable skills, such as communication, team working, analysis, creative and critical thinking.
