I also applied for other college like JUIT Solan, but it was far away from my house and the fees was laos high so i choose GTBIT as it was nearby my home in Delhi and my JEE rank was also low and moreover the return on investment in this college was also good as the fee for 4 year would be approx. 6 lakhs and the avg placement is also 7 lpa. Hence, I took it. Moreover, I was also offered ECE and IT in COMEDK colleges in bangalore as my rank was 900 but I did not go for it as again Bangalore was far away and the college were not that good. I would suggest the college is good for those living in Delhi , have low JEE Rank and want a decent ROI college. Moreover, the college is only 5 days a week. Hence, you can also prepare for GRE, GMAT , GATE , SSS, RBJEE etc easily.
The course curriculum is not at par with the current modern industry standards and requires modification. I think new courses should be introduced focussed more on practical learning and less on theoretical knowledge. Moreover, in the present practical subjects also the practicals are those which have no use when applying for ny internship or company interview, So i think the practicals should be changed in that way, so that we are able to do well in our interviews and the chances of on campus selection increase. This problem is not particularly with my college but i think all the colleges in India need to do so.
The fees of the college is Rs 149100 out of which the details are indicated below: University fee --> 20000 Tution fee ---> 111000 ID Card fee ---> 100 Book Bank Charges ---> 6000(4000 Refundable) Secuity Charges --->10,000(Refundable) Misc Charges---12,000 The fee is same for all categories. However, Scholarship is provided to students as Given Below SC/ST/OBC 1. Dr. BR Ambedakar Scholarship 2. PM Yashaswi 3. PM Kishore 4. Some NGO'S that work for social equality also provide some scholarships, you can get its info from accounts Department EWS Scholarship to ews students is provided every year by Delhi Government and the link to it is shared by College only.
Overall, the college is decent. The cultural fest of the college is GATE which is organized once very year and the annual fest of university is ANUGOONJ. Also, a technical fest is organized every year in college. Moreover other colleges like IIT, IIIT, DTU ,NSUT and DU are nearby , hence we are invited and often go to such events thus the college even provides great exposure due to its strategic location as it is situated in the heart of the city - NEW DELHI. Sports and other facilities are not that widely promoted as campus is small but an annual 3 day sports meet is organized at the university and yearly at college too, thus the sports culture is also promoetd.
The faculties to student ratio is not that bad. It should be 1:50. Some teachers teach with passion while exceptions are also there where some classes are not that interesting. Exams take place 3 times a sem. Sessional 1 --> 2 months after sem start Sessional 2 --> 4 months after sem start Endsem --> 5 months after sem start Exams are easy and it is not that tough to score 8+GPA. The marking scheme is also lenient where 40 marks are internal and 60 are external. 40 marks are required for passing. Hence, it is very easy to pass the exams. If a students fail the exam , he she is promoted to next sem and is required to give the exam next year with exams of his/her current courses.
There are placements available in VIPS-TC. The average package is 4-5 LPA and the highest are around 14-15 LPA. The placements start around 7th semester along with opportunities for internships. I plan to pursue MBA along with a job.
Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th year or 6th semester, you need to clear your backlogs by 4th semester to get a chance to appear for campus placements. There is a career development cell which takes care for the placements. Till now only a few companies whose names are not disclosed to us have visited us but not a lot of students could clear their test, which makes is a worry for others. The first batch is yet to pass out so there is no clear picture of how much package is offered to students and the percentage of students getting placement. My plans after getting degree is to start my own tech startup with the knowledge I gained in college.
As I have already said earlier that course content is not very relevant and needs to be upgaraded along with the industry standards. I think more focus should be laid on Industry feel and appliction learning and theory must be left behind. I think exams should take place only 2 times rather than 3. Moroever , the marking scheme should also be changed.
Placements are Great at DTU. It has 24lpa average package for Computer Science Engineering branch , and lowest is around 10lpa for Biotech Engineering. Approximately 70-80% students get placed each year with Highest package of 1cr+ every year. This year, due to recession, it was approximately 82lpa. There were 2125 offers out of which 1700 students were placed out of 2500 students.
The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge students typically study core engineering subject in the first two yearsfollowed by more specialization course in their chosen field
Onward 6 semesters students become eligible for campus placements and there will be big companies that visit our college such as Wipro Accenture genpact Infosys and the avg package will be 5 lakhs approx 90% students gets placed
The first year's content is completely irrelevant to computer science and from second year onwards you will start learning computer subjects The teaching should be done with new techniques and not just that old classroom kind teaching
Placement opportunities are quite decent. Currently due to recession there is a dip in placement but overall it's nice. The average package is around 700000 and the placement rate is also quite good. Decent number of companies visit the college
