When I took admission in City College,I opted for other colleges too(all were government aided colleges),I didn't have money to take admission in luxurious private colleges.The other colleges I opted for,were quite far from my home and the transportation is quite complex while City College is quite easy to reach with various transportation mediums available for all.Also City College is one of the oldest colleges in Kolkata and the building looks absolutely vintage.So I chose City College over other colleges I opted for.
Commerce is necessary for survival.You learn about a business, marketing although Bcom is very common and underrated nowadays but it's a good affordable option to complete graduation.Bcom opens path to many professions.
When I took admission I was charged 3350 rs only for first semester and for the second semester I've paid 520 rs.Estimatedly,I have to pay 7000-8000 rs all total for my 3 year Bcom general course.CU takes other charges for exams and all.
City College actually arranges nice events such The Sangrila is very famous event which is arranged by only City College,It is arranged generally during the Durga Puja month with painting competitions, Dancing competitions, Singing competitions and much more.Guests are invited during those Sangrila nights.Another famous event is The Annual Social of City College,last time it was arranged in Netaji Indoor Stadium with performance of The Fossils and Darshan Raval.The class rooms are very old and teaching techniques are traditional too!Annual Sports day is also arranged every year.The Students Council can be a boon for some and annoyance for some as well,if you're part of it you have to go on processions and all.
The classes are not very regular so are the faculty members which is very common in Government colleges nowadays.The faculties teach well though,The Head of the department of Commerce is a very smart and good teacher.The exams are taken before CU external exams.The question papers are quite standard but the marks are given on an average basis.The students who does Student's Union gets unfair advantages sometimes.
B.Com is a very industry-ready course and very relevant in today's time and work. The real-world application is taught well here and students get some insights about the practical usage of the course. Teachers may use some friendly behavior and some fun examples for the weak students to get involved and interested in the class.
Mostly from 2nd year students start receiving the internships however depends on department to department. Mostly students receive their placements from 3rd year. Few reputed recruiters such as Intel, TCS, Virtusa, Valve Momentum, Amazon, Deloitte, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, etc. The institute offers 270+ recruiters with 97% placement rate. The average package offered is 6.50 LPA whereas the highest is 51 LPA.
After semester 6 year eligible for placement the average package is of around 10 lakhs per annum which course all the way to 25 lakh per annum around 20 30 companies visit the campus Every year. Students with a good CGPA get placements in good companies like Deloitte Google etc
There are various employment of authorities available you get a lot of internships you get internships almost like four five in one particular semester and you can choose what you want to do there are lots of free courses also available full stop the college themselves conduct them like MS word MS Excel the entire MS office and hence it helps us secure better jobs in case there is a lack of employment available you can definitely apply in the college . You can get internship in The deals office as per your merit and you can take part in organising the events.
The course i choose is definitely not an easy course but the teacher make it easy for all for us.In starting they provide us many classes but with the passing of time they provide us very less classes.
