Remarks :

Admission to MIT's B.Tech program is primarily based on performance in the Manipal Entrance Test (MET), an online entrance exam conducted by the university. The exam has subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. The syllabus is generally aligned with 10+2 syllabus . The eligibility criteria is that we must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects as optional. They need to secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in these subjects. There is a non-refundable application fee, which can be paid online through various payment methods.students who qualify for the MET are called for counseling, where they can choose their preferred branch based on their rank and availability. The counseling process is conducted online, the timeline for applications, MET, and counseling typically starts early in the year (January-March), with MET held in April-May.

Course Curriculum Overview :

curriculum includes foundational courses in mathematics, physics, and basic engineering principles in the first few semesters. This is followed by specialized biomedical courses.Courses include biomechanics, biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. We have access to modern labs and equipment, which is critical in a field that is so hands-on. We have the opportunity to engage in research projects, often in collaboration with manipal's medical college KMC .The university has partnerships with various hospitals, research institutions, and companies, providing students with internship opportunities and exposure to real-world applications of their studies. There is an active student community with clubs and groups dedicated to biomedical engineering, offering opportunities for networking and extracurricular projects.

Internships Opportunities :

Engineering students often secure internships in sectors like IT and Software Development, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, and even non-core sectors like Finance, Consulting, and Marketing. Some students opt for longer internships during their final year, which can last an entire semester (usually the 8th semester). These internships often involve more in-depth work and can sometimes lead to pre-placement offers (PPOs).Students interested in research can work on projects under the guidance of faculty members or in collaboration with research institutions. These internships may involve contributing to ongoing research or working on independent projects.Through programs like IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) or AIESEC, students at MIT can secure international internships.Apart from the Placement Office, MIT has an Internship Cell that specifically focuses on securing internship opportunities.

Placement Experience :

MIT Manipal has a consistent placement rate, often above 80-90% for most branches.Companies from diverse sectors such as IT, consulting, core engineering, finance, and more visit MIT for recruitment. Some prominent recruiters include Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), L&T, and Bosch. The average salary package offered typically ranges from ?6-8 lakhs per annum, The highest packages can go up to ?40 lakhs per annum or more.MIT provides pre-placement training to students, which includes workshops on resume building, group discussions, personal interviews, and soft skills. This training is aimed at improving the employability of students.MIT Manipal has a strong and active alumni network, which plays a significant role in mentoring current students and sometimes even in facilitating placements.Branches like Biomedical, Chemical, and Mechatronics also have good placement opportunities but may require students to be flexible.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

So at MIT Manipal first year students have 3.2 lacs fees for their 1st year , and irrespective of the branch the first year fees is same.In second year the fees change wrt to your branch , at biomedical engineering the fees per year is 3.2lac till the 4th year and it's doesn't increase as you go to higher semesters , the only change in fee structure happens when you go from first year to second. This is the course fee which is inclusive of all the tution fees , lab fees etc . There is no management quota at MIT Manipal main campus After the first year you can avail scholarship if you match the cgpa criteria. For CS category students they have fees around 4.5 to 4.9 lac per year . MIT manipal also has an EMI program where you can make your course fee payment with low cost emi

Campus Life :

There are numerous festivals, cultural events, and parties organized throughout the year. “Revels,” the annual cultural fest, and “TechTatva,” the technical fest, are major highlights, drawing participants from across the country.Students form lifelong friendships, and the social network you build at MIT can be beneficial both personally and professionally.MIT has over 100 student-run clubs and organizations, catering to a wide range of interests including technical, cultural, sports, literary, and entrepreneurial activities. Some popular clubs include the Robotics Club, IE-E&C, IEEE, SAE, ISTE, and MIT Debate Club.Being involved in clubs is a major part of life at MIT. The hostels at MIT are well-maintained, with options ranging from basic to more luxurious accommodations. Each hostel has common rooms, Wi-Fi, recreational facilities, and mess services that cater to a variety of tastes.MIT Manipal has excellent sports infrastructure, including a full-fledged sports complex

Hostel Facilities :

MIT hasvarious types of accommodations, including single, double, and triple occupancy rooms. Single occupancy rooms provide more privacy, while double and triple occupancy options are more affordable and offer a chance to interact more closely with fellow students.Depending on your preference and budget, you can choose between air-conditioned (AC) and non-air-conditioned (Non-AC) rooms. AC rooms are generally more expensive and are often in higher demand. All rooms come furnished with basic necessities like a bed, mattress, study table, chair, and wardrobe.High-speed Wi-Fi is available in all hostels, ensuring students can stay connected for both academic and recreational purposes.Laundry facilities are available in the hostels, either as self-service laundromats or through paid laundry services. The hostels are secure, with 24/7 security personnel stationed at the entrances.hostels are equipped with CCTV cameras in common areas and entry points to ensure safety.Hostels are maintained

Faculty :

At biomedical engineering dept there is a batch of 50 people and 20 faculty members and rest supporting staff , most of faculty in biomedical engineering dept are PhD professors or masters professor, The teachers are very friendly and we interact with the faculty every now and then , The faculty has a very student friendly approach of teaching which is very helpful for us as students. Since it's comparatively less class strength it's really beneficial for students as faculties know you inside our and helps you in growth and even writing / publishing research papers

Placement Experience :

Placements wise it's decent. The placement is active. College does provide you with exposure and opportunities. For opportunities it also depends on the department how supportive your department is. But having a decent cgpa and good network students can get a good decent placement. Apart from this there are multiple clubs related to academics . These also provide with good opportunities every year 2-3 students crack gsoc from these .
