Supply Chain Management deals with the flow of goods and services from external businesses or places. Operation management is the management of internal processes. The skill-sets required for SCM and Operations Management are fairly similar. Many companies have different teams or individuals that handle these areas separately. Also, for some companies, a single team or a person handles both areas. The meaning of SCM and Operations are often interchangeable. In NITIE also, they mean the same thing.

Operations or Operations Management is a field of management. And Supply Chain Management is a subset of Operations Management. In most companies, Supply Chain Management and Operations are used interchangeably. In NITIE too, Supply Chain Management and Operation Management mean the same thing.

The different fields in Supply Chain Management can further be classified into Planning, Logistics, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality control, etc. You can talk to currently enrolled students of this domain and know more details about the same. Some of the recruiters that recruit in this domain include names such as SAP, Oracle, ERP Consultant, etc.

Hope this makes you understand the difference between Operations and SCM.
