Courses offered in Plant Science and Applied Plant Science programs have been designed to explore, through? knowledge, experience, investigation and experimentation, how plants grow, develop, reproduce, evolve, fight off pests and diseases, interact with and respond to their environment, produce the best quality products, and contribute significantly to enhancing human health. The courses are meant for students with interest in plant biology and its associated curricular fields such as plant ecology, plant physiology, plant pathology, plant molecular biology, soil science and several others.

The core courses of both programs are almost the same except that for Applied Plant Science students, instead of taking a pure core plant science? courses such plant diversity, plant cell biology, plant reproductive biology and polyploidy, photosynthesis and respiration, plant molecular biology and plant ecology, the students will take a few core courses which are more applied such as soil science, plant protection, plant propagation, plant and crop modeling, herbs and medicinal plants.??
