Well, I would if you are worried about job prospects and all stuff although being in ISI Kolkata then shed off your worry. Trust me; you will get a job with an average CTC matching with top B-Schools in India. Job roles such as Business Analyst/Data Scientist and many others will be offered to you.

Now let me help you more in understanding this. Let’s break this into two parts – Job vs. Higher Studies.

• Pursuing Ph.D./Higher Studies is a tough deal if you're applying abroad.
• My personal perspective, in this case, will be, go for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering domain. 
• That's the best option, as it will be aligned with QROR.
• Now, you should definitely rethink before applying for the courses like Data Science/ Machine Learning domain, or Statistics.
• For this, I would suggest you consider doing some projects. And if you are at the Indian Statistical Institute you will get a plethora of opportunities.

So first and foremost, just be crystal clear with your future endeavors before joining any course. Once you decide, opt for the best but don’t rush. Just give your best thought and calculate all the pros and cons.

In terms of placement for Electrical Engineering students in Systems Engineering at IIT BHU, there are several opportunities provided by companies of various domains. The selection of a student in a specific job profile depends on the interest of the student towards that specific domain. 

The table below gives a brief overview of the M.Tech in Systems Engineering stream of IIT BHU.

Key Highlights:

• The Systems Engineering branch allows the admission of students from EE, EC, and IN branches, having a valid GATE score (also known as an interdisciplinary course).
• The course of Systems Engineering mostly comprises Electrical Engineering subjects. So, students from the Department of EC and IN face some problems in certain subjects like Power system operations, control engineering, electric drives, etc. Other than such courses, most topics are related to control systems, which are simpler topics for EC and IN students.
• The latest research areas, course overview, eligibility for the department of Systems Engineering are provided on the college website, where the students can have a brief idea about the topics covered.
• At present, the college offers 12 seats in Systems Engineering. Out of the total number of seats, a maximum of 40% seats are given to one branch to ensure that there are students from every branch.
• Students from Systems Engineering are allowed to sit for the placement of various companies. Some of them include Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Apple, Qualcomm, SAP labs, Intel, Kla Tencor, Eaton, Cognizant, TCS, JP Morgan, GE, Bosch, Math works, Mercedes Benz, Texas Instruments, Tata Motors, Honeywell, Cisco, Morgan Stanley, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Relaxo, etc.
• Students are even offered jobs in lectureship at several universities and coaching institutes.
• There is a parameter for students to sit for a maximum of 60 companies in placement, as given by the institute. So, students need to choose among companies.

Overall, there are several options in placement for students in Systems Engineering at IIT BHU. Mostly, the selection of a student depends on his/her choice in the working area or depends on the project developed by the student during his/her tenure. There is a good chance for a student to get a proper match in the job profile offered by the companies.

One of my friends with a GATE score of 670 took admission to NIT Calicut. The academics in the field of industrial and management are good but the placements are not good enough. The faculty of NIT Calicut is exceptionally well, knowledgeable and experienced. They are way better than the faculty of NIT Trichy or ISM Dhanbad. 

Placements for M.Tech courses are very bad and it is the same in all institutes. The only exception is flagship IITs and NIT Trichy. Therefore, one should opt for NIT Trichy than NIT Calicut. 

Therefore, if you are interested in a job right after the course, go for NIT Trichy. If you want to study further in this field, then NIT Calicut would be a suitable choice.

An M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management from NIT Trichy is a very good course. The placements are also really good. Any company which comes to the campus for recruiting mechanical or production specialization students will also let you sit for their process. 

There are many core companies in the data/business analytics, supply chain, and simulation sector which offer management-related profiles to the students.

The percentage placements of the M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management students over the years at NIT Trichy is given below –

• 2017-18 – 91.3%
• 2018-19 – 76.2%
• 2019-20 – 94.4%

You can further pursue a Ph.D. in this area and work as a professor in any engineering college or university. The best part of this course is its leniency towards attendance, classes, and exams which will help you to maximize your learning through other means as well.

It all actually depends on your interest. As both of these options are completely different and two different areas of interest. You must choose what you find interesting. There would not be any conflict between these two institutes over the placement stats as both of them will give good placements to their students. If you are interested in tough work that is more challenging or research and development-oriented, you should choose IISc. As in the world of Nanoscience, IISc is the country’s most renowned institution. And if you are more inclined towards managerial work, then it would be better to go to NITIE.

IIT BHU offers a decent MTech program in Industrial Management. The MTech programs at IIT BHU are multidisciplinary and research-oriented and the course curriculum is designed to meet the industry requirements. There is a huge exposure for higher education in industrial engineering management in the domain of supply chain management, operation research, inventory management, etc.

All the manufacturing and engineering companies offer jobs specifically to industrial engineers. Some of them are TATA Steel, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, Maruti Udyog. There are also other companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc. to name a few that offer jobs. Government organizations like BSNL, ONGC, ISRO, etc. also offer jobs with handsome packages. The average package offered in 2019 campus placement was between 10 LPA to 58 LPA.
