MA Admission 2023 is held online based on merit or an entrance exam. Universities conduct an entrance exam and then release a merit list. Some universities also conduct a GD/PI round to offer admission to the MA courses.
The admission process for MA courses is usually done through an entrance exam in almost all the top colleges. Top Entrance Exams for MA admission include CUET PG, IPU CET, BHU PET, JNUEE, etc. IGNOU offers a Distance MA course that candidates can complete within 2 to 5 years. Few colleges grant direct MA admission based on marks secured in graduation. DU MA Admission 2023 will be done on the basis of the CUET PG.
Master of Arts (MA) is a 2-year postgraduate course focusing on theoretical knowledge of arts. The eligibility criteria for pursuing MA is that students must have a minimum of 50% aggregate in bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. There is a 5% relaxation provided to reserved category candidates. Subjects taught in the MA Course are different for every specialization. MA Admission Process 2023
MA Admission 2023 can be done based on either merit or entrance exams.
- For Entrance-Based MA Admission, candidates must appear for a university or state-level entrance exam. Colleges affiliated to Delhi University, IP University, JNU etc offer MA Admission based on an entrance exam
- Candidates can also seek Direct MA Admission on the basis of their undergraduate marks in universities such as Amity University, Parul University, etc. Some universities offer MA Admission where students have to give a Personal Interview and clear a GD round.
MA Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates aspiring to pursue admission in an MA course are required to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates should have successfully completed their Bachelor's degree (preferably Bachelor of Arts) of a minimum 3 or 4 years duration (10+2+3 or 10+2+4). The Bachelor's degree should be from a university that is recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) of India.
- A minimum of 50% or its equivalent must be secured by the students at the graduation level. The cutoff varies from college to college. It could be 55% or 60% as well.
- There’s a 5% relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBCs and differently-abled categories.
- Students who are in their final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply.
