Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) Admission 2024:  Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute grants admission to Editing, Cinematography, Animation Cinema, etc. courses based on performance in the FTII JET examination. 


Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was established in 1995 and functions under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

SRFTI is a member of the CILECT, international Association of Film and Television Schools. 

There are 6 departments that offer programs for admission. Admission to the courses is based on a Joint Entrance Exam (JET).

The institute offers post graduate programmes in Cinema and Electronic & Digital Media with 6 specialisations in each. There are 5 seats per specialization.

The post graduate programme in Cinema is a 3 year course while the course for Electronics and Digital Media is two years long. 

Admissions are offered to those students who qualify the entrance, fulfill the eligibility criteria and qualify the interview. Students are allowed to choose one specialization per course.

SRFTI Eligibility & Selection Criteria for Admissions

To be eligible for admissions, students must fulfill the below given common eligibility criteria:

  • Students should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised University or equivalent.
  • Students who are in their final of graduation or not received their graduation degree during application must submit it before the date of admission.
  • Students who wish to specialise in Sound Recording and Design must have studied Physics in their 10+2 level.

Selection Process

The students are selected based on their performance in the JET 2021 exam and interview.

  • After the results of JET are announced, the college will publish the list of students who are shortlisted for the interview.
  • The students are then selected based on their performance in the interview.
  • Candidates selected in the short-list will go through a medical test by the medical officer appointed by the institute.
  • Students can then choose to enroll in any one specialisation.

How to Apply for SRFTI?

  • Go to the institute website, here.
  • On the top, go to the “Admission” and click on it.
  • On the left of the page, click on “important Dates”.
  • The right of the page contains a “Apply JET 2021” button.
  • Fill in the relevant details in the fields and apply online.
  • Download the admit card using the username and password produced on the JET 2021 website.
  • The list of students selected will be published on the website of the institute.
  • The institute will send an interview letter to the shortlisted students directly.

  • All original Marks cards
  • Self-attested copies of all marks card and admit card
  • Stamp Size photos (3)
  • Parents’/guardian’s income certificate or any one of the following
  1. Copy of the Income Tax Return
  2. Copy of Form 16
  3. Copy of the Pay Slip/ Salary Certificate from the employer
  4. Income Certificate from local MLA/Councilor
  • Aadhar Card
  • Caste Certificate
  • Selected students must get an affidavit on a non-judicial court paper at the time of admission.

FAQs

Ques. Are there any reservation seats available?

Ans. Reserved seats are per the govt. Norms. 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled castes and 7.5% for the scheduled tribes in every course. Other backward classes belonging to the Non-Creamy layer have a reservation of 27% seats in every course. 5% seats in every course is reserved for PwD students.

Ques. What are the fees for the courses?

Ans. The fees for the first year is ₹109,796/-, including the Application fee, Security Deposit and Tuition fee. The tuition fee is ₹41,250 for every semester. The fee for both courses is the same for every semester. For more detailed fee structure, click here.

Ques. Does the institute have hostel facilities?

Ans. Hostel accomodation is available to the students from the second year onwards. Hostel facilities are not available for first years. The hostel fees is ₹30,943/- including admission, security deposit and hostel fee. The hostel fee for every semester is ₹21,626/-.

Ques. What are the facilities available for students?

Ans. Students can use the various facilities in the institute to enhance their learning experience in the college. They can gain the much needed first hand experience that is required in the entertainment industry. There are various facilities availble in the college such as library, film library, screening room and studio on hire.
