Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) Admission 2023:  Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute grants admission to Editing, Cinematography, Animation Cinema, etc. courses based on performance in the FTII JET examination. FTII JET Application process is ongoing. The last date to fill out the application form is the end of January 2023 (tentative). For further details, candidates may check the official website.

Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute was established in 1995 and is situated on the eastern fringe of the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The college has been named after the legendary film maestro Satyajit Ray and the institute has emerged as a national centre of excellence which offers post graduate programs in Cinematic studies. The college falls under the ministry of Information and Broadcasting Government of India.

Admission to any of the courses is done on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in Joint Entrance Test (JET) conducted jointly by SRFTI and FTII which is followed by the Interview conducted by the Institute. The final selection is based on the performance of the candidates in the Interview.

Post graduate program in Electronic & Digital media Duration: 2 years
Specializations: Writing for Electronic & Digital media, Electronics & Digital media management, Cinematography for Electronic & Digital media, Direction & Producing for Electronic & Digital media, Editing for Electronic & Digital media, Sound for Electronic & Digital media
Eligibility Criteria: a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized University or Institute with at least 55 % marks in aggregate

SRFTI Admissions 2024

Admissions to any of the courses is on the basis of entrance examination- JET conducted jointly by SRFTI and FTII. Eligible candidates can apply for the same by following the given steps:

  • Visit the official website of the institute – www.srfti.ac.in
  • Register and login with the credentials and fill in the application form.
  • Upload and attach the required documents, Photographs and mark sheets.
  • Pay the registration fee through NET Banking/ credit card/ debit card and submit the application form.
  • Application form number will be generated after submitting the application form. Save the application number and take a printout of the application form for future use.
  • Candidates will then be shortlisted on the basis of the marks secured in the Joint Entrance Test (JET).
  • The selected candidates will be called for an interview round conducted by the Institute on the basis of which the final selection is made.

SRFTI Facilities

The following facilities are offered:

Library:

The library of SRFTI was set up in 1997. The library has a great collection of books and periodicals on cinema, sociology, art, history and critical studies along with specialized titles dealing with the technology of cinema. The library also has a great collection of DVDs and cassettes ranging from classics to experimental.

Film Library

The Institute has a small film library which houses a varied collection of Indian and Foreign Films. The Film library features 400 foreign feature films, 914 short & documentary films. These films are available to the faculties and students for reference.

Screening room

The Institute has a multi - purpose main theatre (Screening room) with 370 seats. The Institute also has a preview theatre with 72 seats and open air theatre with over 500 seats. It also has class room theatre (CRT) equipped with modern facilities for screening in the department for specialization students.

Accommodation

The Institute provides hostel facilities to both boys and girls. The hostels are equipped with all modern amenities, Internet and photocopying facilities. The institute has a well furnished guest house with a spacious lobby and dining hall for guests of the institute, visiting professionals and also for ex students and parents.

ques. Does the Institute provide admission to International Students?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision for enrolling 2 foreign students in each discipline under a Post graduate program in Cinema. These students should apply through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), they should also get in touch with Indian embassies in their country.

Ques. What are the Important dates for JET?

Ans. The registration for JET exam usually starts in the month of december and is open till the month of january. The exam is however usually conducted in the mid of February.

Ques. What is the Application fees?

Ans. Application fees which should be paid while filing an online application form is INR 2000 for one Course, INR 3000 for two Courses and INR 4000 for three courses. Application fees for candidates in SC, ST and PWD category are INR 600 for one course, INR 900 for two courses and INR 1200 for three courses.
