There is no specific winner. Both Malda Medical College (MMC) and KPC Medical College have their advantages and disadvantages, and both fall under the same bracket. The better choice will be to compare them based on the location that is near to your home.

The following are some of the comparison points.

  • MMC is a government institute, and KPC is a private medical college.
  • The course fee for Malda Medical College is less as compared to KPC Medical College. KPC charges around 8.92 lakhs.
  • Malda patients are usually happy with the hospital staff. There are twenty students to examine a single patient frequently.
  • Three out of ten patients in KPC fail to cooperate with interns in absence of a doctor. Student interns do not have much authority while examining the patients. It does not happen in government institutes like Malda.
  • The main disadvantage of KPC is the tag of private institutes even after getting admission through the NEET UG exam like Malda.
  • The crowd at KPC is less, and the campus is clean. The faculties are more understanding as compared to Malda.
  • KPC is in the main city, and Malda is on the outskirts of Kolkata.

Overall, choose the college that is near you.

Malda Medical College is not considered the worst medical college. There are no best or worst government medical colleges in India. There is a system of rotation of faculties among colleges in West Bengal. So, you do not have an academic disadvantage.

As per reviews from senior students, the faculties in Malda Medical College are excellent. But the drawback is the lack of exposure in Kolkata.

There is a decent influx of patients in the hospital. So, it is not a huge concern. The students in Malda are competitive and bright minds. They clear the national level exam, NEET-UG, cut-offs for admission.

Overall, being in a Government Medical College (GMC) is the best if you are ready for MBBS.

According to the reviews, I read online, the USA, Malaysia, Singapore, etc are some of the countries that acknowledge the dental, or the medical degree offered by Kasturba Medical College. If you plan to move out of the country then Kasturba Medical College can be a good option for you. You will be able to follow through on your plans with ease.

Malda Medical College is one of the worst colleges for pursuing medical. It was previously a district health care hospital and there were no plans of turning it into a medical college. It lacks proper medical equipment. The students of this college are people who do not have the money and did not achieve the rank required for studying in government medical colleges.

Malda Medical College is a government institute approved by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS). Usually, all UG programs are equivalent, but Malda Medical College is one of the excellent medical schools in India.

  • The institute accepts NEET UG entrance cut-offs for admission in the MBBS program.
  • The seat matrix for State Quota is 85% while for All India Quota, it is 15%
  • The main advantage is that it is a government institute. So, it gives the best practical exposure to students.
  • It also provides various scholarships to financially weak students.
  • The infrastructural facilities have improved over the years. It includes a hostel, library, and canteen.
  • The only drawback of the institute is that it is in the outskirts of Calcutta, and faculties get transferred at regular periods.

Based on all these factors, I will suggest that you go to Malda Medical College if you have the option to join.

The answer for this question depends on your perspective. If you are a resident of Malda, whether you are from a more developed area and the lifestyle you are used to.

  • Compared to the institutes in Kolkata, Malda Medical College is new.
  • As it is new, the hostels are obviously in a good condition.
  • The hostels are also well maintained.
  • If you come across problems, they will be taken care of as soon as possible.
  • There is a shortage of rooms in the hostels but that problem is being taken care of.
  • The rooms are more or less clean.
  • Food from the canteen is cheap but it is not worth it.

Highest CTC 15-18 LPA
Average CTC 3-4 LPA

Lastly, it can be said that you can only trust homemade food as the food quality in the canteen is very bad. The campus is not that big and there is not even a playground on the campus. Also, the faculty are rotated in all the medical colleges of West Bengal so you will never find a professor in the college all the time.
