Swami Vivekanand Government College was established in 1994 as Co-Educational institution in Ghumarwin, District Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh. The college was started functioning in the premises of Government Primary School Kalari. At present the college is spread over 14.04 acres of land. In 1994 when the college was established, only arts faculty was started and in 1998 Science and Commerce faculties were also introduced. The college was recognized by UGC (University Grant Commission) under sections of 2(f) in 1999 and 12 (B) in 2008. In the session of 2009-2010 two new vocational courses Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.) and PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application) were introduced under self-financing scheme. In the academic session 2012-2013 Master of Arts (M.A.) English was started and in the same session under self-financing scheme Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) another vocational courses was also started.
The aim of the college is to promoting academic/professional knowledge/skill both in creation and dissemination by producing graduates and post graduates well equipped with knowledge and skill and continuously improving learning environment while maintaining high ethical and multicultural standards.
