- A master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognised university with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade
OR
- A 4-year bachelor’s degree programme or equivalent in relevant discipline from a recognised university with atleast 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
OR
- An MPhil degree from a recognised university with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
Candidates appearing in the final year Degree examination can also apply, provided they furnish proof of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria at the time of joining the programme.
The selection criterion for the admission in PhD programmes are as under:
- The Entrance Test shall be conducted for eligible candidates wherein the qualifying marks will be 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. (The detailed syllabus is available on the website)
- The list of candidates clearing the entrance test (50%) shall be declared on the notice board/ website of the University.
- An interview/viva-voce to be organised by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before Department Research Committee specified under R.Ph.D. 2.3.
- The candidates who qualify the UGC-NET (Including JRF) UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) / GATE / GPAT with a valid score in terms of cut-off marks and duration, shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test and deemed to be qualified for personal interview.
