However, candidates will be required to appear for GD, PI and the Written Ability Test.

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai is one of the best B-Schools in the country which offers a fully residential MBA programme for a minimum duration of 2 years.
The MBA programme is offered as a full time course under the affiliation of Madurai Kamaraj University.
TSM charges INR 11,00,000 for its 2 years MBA course.

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai MBA Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the MBA program at Thiagarajar School of Management, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

Candidates must be a graduate in any stream from a recognized institute with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
Students graduating in May 2022 are also eligible to apply for the MBA course.
A relaxation of 5% in final aggregate scores is provided to SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Candidates must also be qualified in any of the entrance exams: CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ ATMA.

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai MBA Admission Process

Thiagarajar School of Management admits candidates on the basis of their combined performance in last qualifying examinations and entrance exams. Appearing for and qualifying the entrance exams is a prerequisite to be eligible for the MBA programme at TSM.

Candidates are first shortlisted on the basis of their entrance test scores, prior academic performance and relevant work experience.
These shortlisted candidates are then required to appear for Written Ability Test followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
In the Personal Interview round, written, verbal and analytical abilities of the candidates are determined.
Final selection of the candidates is based on their cumulative performance in entrance exam, past academic record, work experience, GD, PI and WAT.
The weight assigned to each relevant parameter is as follows:
- Academic Performance in 10th, 12th, Undergraduate Degree/ Postgraduate Degree: 20%
- Scores in Common Admission Test ( CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ ATMA): 35%
- GD/PI/WAT: 35%
- For participation in Sports, Extra/ Co-Curricular Activities, Academic Diversity and Gender Diversity: 5%
- Work Experience: 5%

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai provides a general management MBA course in specializations, namely, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Economics, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Management for 2 academic years which are further divided into 6 trimesters. The course is designed to inculcate managerial skills and technical proficiency in young graduates so that they can continue to thrive in every sector of the economy.

In the first year, there are 472 sessions and the course work has 61 credits whereas in the second year, the course work has 384-408 sessions and has 51-54 credits.
6-8 weeks internships are mandatory for students after the completion of first year.

Program Structure

Duration: The minimum course duration is 2 years whereas candidates are provided a maximum of 4 years, i.e, 12 trimesters for successful completion of the course. Each academic year comprises 3 trimesters, hence, the course comprises a total of 6 trimesters.
Course Structure: The first year comprises core courses aiming to enlighten students with fundamentals of management and aspects of industrial environment after the completion of which a 6-8 weeks internship in reputed firms and project work is mandatory for students. From second year onwards, candidates are required to choose and study elective courses as per their interest.
Summer Internship: Summer Internship Programme is an opportunity to convert the internship into a pre-placement offer and helps the students in career placements. This internship must be started in May / June and can be availed through TSM itself.

Evaluation: Evaluation of students is done on the basis of their performance in Mid-Trimester Examinations, End Term Examinations, Internship Project Work etc. The weightage criteria is as follows:
- CA: 60 Marks
- ET: 40 Marks
- Total: 100 Marks

Financial Assistance: Merit based scholarships are given to students on the basis of their outstanding performance during the academic session. Moreover, education loan upto INR 10,00,000 with low interest rate and no processing charges is also provided to candidates.

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai is a B-School that is ranked 76th in India by the MHRD, Government of India 2020 ranking. The AICTE has approved TSM's PGDM and MBA programs. It is accredited by the NBA, New Delhi. It has been conferred autonomous status by the UGC and Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu. TSM has also been granted candidacy for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs i.e ACBSP. TSM admissions are based on All-India assessments such as CAT, MAT, or State Government selection based on TANCET. Both Thiagarajar School of Management and PSG Institute of Management are average-rated tier-2 institutes, none of them being up to the mark for an MBA. The points below give a brief overview of the PSG Institute of Management, which has a sight better reputation than the other. Placement in PSGIM is moderate. The average package offered to students in MBA is around 5 LPA, which is considered to be not so decent for MBA graduates. For marketing, the placements are somewhat better. For students in finance, only two major companies, BNY Mellon and State Street visit the campus for placement in core finance jobs. So, most students in all branches of MBA go to sales profiles only. The highest package offered in the institute to date is close to 9 LPA, which is not very high. Academics in PSGIM are is moderate, which is nowhere close to that of IIMs and XLRI. The course offered in the institute is not residential and so, there is less focus on summer internships and practical knowledge-based learning. Both the institutes are not very good options for MBA degrees. But, PSG Institute of Management still manages to offer some decent jobs in Marketing and so it can be considered.

It is well-known in the south and has some popularity in northern India. In comparison to other college’s hostels, the food is really good here. They have a diverse culture here. TSM celebrates almost all festivals with zeal, including Diwali, Onam, Dussehra, Pongal, and many others, so students feel at home. The hostels at the Thiagarajar School of Management are properly built and offer basic amenities to the students. The rooms are Wi-Fi enabled. For 1st-year students, hostel rooms are either single/double/triple sharing. Only seniors get single occupancy on a first come first serve basis. There is no air-conditioning which would make summers at the hostel a tad bit difficult. But the campus is filled with beautiful trees stretching over vast areas near the hostel. Students are encouraged to live in a natural atmosphere. You will be made to share rooms to enable first-year students to smoothly build relations with their roommates through proper communication. Laundry services are provided on a payment basis. This should give you an idea about the hostels at Thiagarajar School of Management.
