Executive Masters of Business Administration in Human Resource Management (EMBA HRM) is a postgraduate course in formal systems devised to manage people in an organisation/ company. An integral factor for being eligible for this course is that the candidate must have a work experience in addition to being a graduate.

EMBA HRM is usually a 1 ½ years to 2 ½ years program and is often confused with a regular MBA in HRM. Admission to the program is based on the candidate’s working experience, entrance exam score (CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/NMAT/University Exam) and graduation marks, in addition to a group discussion/personal interview.

Duration

The duration of this course depends on college to college. The duration largely ranges from 1 ½ years at the least and 2 ½ years at a maximum. The course is divided into semesters.  

The classes for the course are conducted twice a week in most of the colleges.

EMBA HRM is for students who are already working. In other words, it is a distant education course in HRM. Students of any age limit can pursue this course, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. In here too, students have to submit a research paper/dissertation.

After this course students can either continue working with the existing company or look for better job profiles within HR department in other organizations. In such a scenario, academic options after this are a bit limited.

If one wishes, they can opt out of their existing jobs and pursue a Ph.D in Business Administration and Management from colleges like Indian Institute of Management and Indian School of Business.
