Shri Shikshayatan College UG Admission 2023: BA, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Ed, BBA

Shri Shikshayatan College offers BA, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Ed, BBA and BA JMC courses at UG level.

The basic eligibility criterion to take admission in any of these UG courses requires a 10+2 pass in the relevant subjects from a recognized board. For B.Ed., candidate must have passed MA/M.Sc. or BA (Hons)/ B.Sc. (Hons) with minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

Selection to UG courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. Admission to B.Ed. is done on the basis of Communication Skill Test.

B.Com in Accounting & Financing is offered in Morning as well as Evening shifts while B.Com in Marketing is only available for Evening shift.
BA (Journalism & Mass Communication) and BBA (H) programs are offered under Self-Financed scheme.

Shri Shikshayatan College PG Admission 2023: MA, M.Com

Shri Shikshayatan College offers a two-year MA (English) program only for female candidates in recognition with University of Calcutta and M.Com program. Minimum eligibility is pass in BA (Hons.) from Calcutta University or another university with 50% marks in aggregate. For M.Com, candidate must have passed B.Com (Hons) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

Selection is based on merit in the qualifying exam followed by PI.

Shri Shikshayatan college in Kolkata is one of the most reputed private all girls colleges. It definitely has a brand name of its own and it's quite popular in Kolkata.

Here are some facts about the college:

It has a very well maintained infrastructure with a proper gym, basketball court, swimming pool and other facilities.
They have a placement record of 90%, which is really good. Many reputed companies like Tech Mahindra, TCS, etc. come for placements.
These IT firms offer students a salary package of 5-6 LPA depending on their academic record.

Your college does not matter in UPSC, only your marks in graduation matter. But Shri Shikshayatan has a popularity and familiarity among people, so it will not be a problem.

The timing depends on each department. Each department usually has different shifts.

Most of the days the classes start from 9:00 AM or 9:45 AM and go on till 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM.

Some classes can also start from 8:15 AM but this goes for the final year students only.

A BA or B.Sc. students have class timings from 10 AM to 4 PM. B.Com students have both morning and evening classes. BBA only has morning shifts.

The cutoffs here are high and they have very limited seats.
General category students only have 25 official seats.
Their English department is said to be the best in Kolkata.
They have an excellent faculty comprising talented members with years of educational experience.

Shri Shikshayatan is a bit liberal and gives students enough freedom to explore, on the other hand Loreto is completely opposite. It is very strict and disciplined. They keep their students in check most of the time.

Both Loreto College and Shri Shikshayatan College are the most reputed all-girls colleges in Kolkata. Choosing any one of them will prove to be a good step up for your career.

Loreto College is popular for its English Honours course. It is more strict compared to any other college. Students here have to maintain a 80% attendance, failing which you will not be able to sit for the examination. Also for subjects with practicals, students have to maintain a 100% attendance in labs. The faculty of the English department is highly experienced with some professors having 15-20 years of educational experience.

Shri Shikshayatan College is a bit more liberal than Loreto. It is not so strict about certain rules and students have the freedom to explore. The attendance, dress code, academics, etc. are much more lenient than Loreto. But according to the education provided both are equally good. Choose the one that meets all your requirements, as only that can give you a fulfilling college life.

Both Bhawanipur Education Society and Shri Shikshayatan are reputed colleges in Kolkata. They admit their students on a merit basis. Their cut off is usually high but if you have average scores you will get a chance in their 2nd or 3rd lists.

Shri Shikshayatan is an all girls college and requires a better academic record. Both colleges are more or less the same. They differ in infrastructure, faculty and overall fees. Shri Shikshayatan has better infrastructure than Bhawanipur with better well maintained buildings, auditorium, gym and swimming pool.

Bhawanipur encourages students to join their college clubs and committees, they believe in the holistic development of the students along with academics. The college hosts, organizes and takes part in several inter-college festivals, cultural activities, competitions, etc. which take place all year long. If you prefer being around such activities then Bhawanipur is the right place for you.
