KJ Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (KJSIEIT) was founded by Somaiya Group in 2001. The institute offers B.E course in 4 disciplines with an intake of 300 in all the departments.

Candidates who are seeking admission to the first year of B.Tech program must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 50% (45% marks for the OBC and PH candidates of Maharashtra) of marks with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
For B.E programs in KJSIEIT, admission will be granted on the basis of score of Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH CET) or JEE Main.
For Lateral Entry program, the candidates must have a Diploma/ B.Sc. degree with at least 45% (40% in the case of reserved category) marks in aggregate from a recognized university.

KJSIEIT B.E Admission 2023

KJSIEIT gives admission to the B.E first year program through merit and performance in MH CET or JEE Main Paper 1. MH CET is a state level entrance test conducted by the Admissions Regulating Authority and State Common Entrance Test Cell.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects and either of these as an optional subject, viz. KJSIET offers direct admission to Second Year of the full-time B.E program on the basis of inter-se-merit basis.

admission proceedings are performed as per the guidelines prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education and Admission Regulating Authority, Government of Maharashtra.

Should I Join Kj Somaiya College for Computer or take a drop and Aim for VJTI?

Between KJ Somaiya and VJTI, the latter is definitely better. Whether or not you should take a year drop that depends on you and how important is this year to you.

Comparison:

If you compare KJ Somaiya and VJTI, in terms of placement and higher education you will see that the best students from KJ Somaiya do get similar opportunities as VJTI students. One of my friends attended VJTI and got placed in a company that was one of the best to visit KJ Somaiya too. So, he has 4-6 colleagues from KJ Somaiya.

As long as brand value goes, after 5 years of the compilation of your course, no one will care where are you from VJTI or KJ Somaiya.

People will care if you are from IIT though because IIT brand-name sticks.

A word of advice, dropping a year to join VJTI may not be worth it. If you are going to drop a year, try to get into an IIT or IIIT.

What material do we require for engineering drawing in KJ Somaiya?

KJ Somaiya is autonomous. So the exams, i.e. test 1, test 2, and semesters will be carried out on AutoCad. Make sure you install Auto Cad on your desktop and start practicing immediately. This will help you get acquainted and speed up with the commands. Speed is important in examinations.

You will just need a compass, tractor, scale of the roller, and 0,5 mm pencil because the assignments are paper-based. Also during lectures, you should keep a roller scale and geometric compass.

For reference, you can read N.H Dubey or N.D Bhatt. N.D Bhatt is considered as the Bibel for Engineering Drawing and most faculties will recommend you to follow this book.

What should I prefer, IT from KJ Somaiya or CS from Vivekanand?

IT from KJ Somaiya is the better option. Since it is an autonomous college, you will get several benefits like -

At KJ Somaiya, some electives and inter-disciplinary courses are introduced from the 3rd year onwards. So, you can easily get a grip on the subjects. You won’t find much difference between the IT syllabus of KJ Somaiya and the CS syllabus of Vivekanand.
KJ Somaiya has its own start-up incubation cell. It is known as RiiDL. If you have a great project or startup idea, and you can manage to convince RiiDL, of the potential of your idea, you can get ample funding and resources. The institute also has an entrepreneurship-promoting body, BloomBox. If you have any start-up ideas, you can get their help regarding contacts and resources.
KJ Somaiya placements are biased towards IT and COMPS. Around 90% of students get placed in IT and CSE courses each year with an average CTC of INR 6 LPA.

These are the reasons that make KJ Somaiya a better option.

Which is better, EXTC in KJ Somaiya or IT in Vivekanand (considering I like both branches)?

Both EXTC in KJ Somaiya and IT in Vivekanand are very good courses to pursue, but let's look at some factors before making a decision.

Location :

The place where KJ Somaiya is located is a very good area.
There are two nearby railway stations Tilaknagar and Vidyavihar. So transportation is easier.
But Vivekanand is far away from Chembur and Kurla and it will take you much time to reach the college unless you get a monorail, but it is not available every time.
So, here KJ Somaiya will be a better choice.

Autonomous :

Autonomous universities provide the opportunity of taking up an internship or a full time job even before completing your 8th semester.

Campus :

The campus of KJ Somaiya is very beautiful and big in area with all the modern facilities.
They also encourage extracurricular activities.

Placements :

The placement of both the colleges are very good.
But students from EXTC in KJ Somaiya will have an advantage as they will be eligible to sit for both IT companies as well as core EXTC companies.

There are no such major differences between CS and IT departments as the course structure is very similar to both the departments except for a few subjects. Almost all companies accept students from both the departments for interviews.

But between these two colleges, you should choose KJ Somaiya College of Engineering as it will be a better choice and here are a few reasons.

This is an autonomous college that has many benefits of its own.
They also keep the course curriculum updated with time.
The placement opportunities are very good as almost all the top recruiters visit the campus for interviews and recruit many students with good packages.

KJSIEIT's campus is excellent. The faculty is extremely helpful. You must maintain a high level of academic performance throughout your career. Attendance should be kept at around 75%, and if you have a genuine medical condition, it should be at least 65%. There are numerous technical committees, including IET, IEEE, IETE, CSI, and others. There are numerous cultural and sporting events.

In terms of IT in KJSIEIT, it has a separate building that is amazing in comparison to the main building, and from a job perspective, if your skills are good, you can easily get a very good package, but you must be good at coding. More than 45 companies have visited our campus.
