Course Description

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research(NIPER) Hyderabad, offers a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree of four-year duration. The program is offered in four specializations that are Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology & Toxicology and Pharmaceutics.

A Post Graduation degree with 60% and a valid score in NIPER JEE is the minimum requirement to be eligible for NIPER Hyderabad PhD Admissions.
Candidates are selected based on the merit scored in NIPER JEE followed by a Group Discussion and Personal interview.

NIPER Hyderabad Ph.D. Eligibility

Students seeking admission must meet the following eligibility criteriAns.

Medicinal Chemistry

Candidates must have a MS, M.Pharm or M.Tech. degree in a relevant subject with 60% marks.

Pharmaceutical Analysis

Candidates must have a MS or MSc degree in relevant subjects with 60% marks.

Pharmacology & Toxicology

Candidates must have Graduation in MS, M.Pharm, M.Tech, M.E or M.Sc in relevant subjects with 60% marks.

Pharmaceutics

Candidates must have a MS or M.Tech degree in relevant subjects with 60% marks.

NIPER Hyderabad Ph.D. Admission Guidelines

Candidates are selected based on the result of the NIPER Joint Entrance Exam (NIPER JEE) conducted by the institute. This is followed by a round of group discussion and personal interview.

NIPER Hyderabad Ph.D. Course Details

The course lasts for a duration of four years. Each year is divided into 2 semesters. The course follows a credit-based system where the students have to get a minimum number of credits. Each specialisation has a total of 50 credits.

Ques. What is the course fee for PhD at NIPER Hyderabad?

Ans. The fee structure for PhD is given in the table below:

Ques. Can candidates avail reservation benefits in Ph.D. course of NIPER Hyderabad?

Ans. While reservation is not provided in seats, students from the backward category are provided with a 5% relaxation in the minimum score in the qualifying degree. Similarly physically handicapped students are provided with a 10% relaxation.

Ques. What is the exam pattern of NIPER JEE for Ph.D. course?

Ans. Admissions to PhD courses at NIPER Hyderabad is done on the basis of NIPER JEE score.

The test is conducted as an objective type question paper consisting of 170 questions of 85 marks.
The areas involved in the questions are
- Chemical Sciences
- Biological Sciences
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
Question paper is prepared at the level of MS(Pharm), M.Pharm, M. Tech(Pharm), M. V. SC, M. D and M. SC.
Questions from general Pharmaceutical Sciences and general aptitude are also mentioned.
Duration of the examination is two hours.

Ques. Is there any Financial assistance provided to PhD students of NIPER Hyderabad?

Ans. Yes, NIPER fellowship is provided to the students. For this, it is mandatory that the students score a minimum CGPA of 6.5. In case the CGPA is between 6 and 6.5 the stipend will be withheld until the students score a CGPA of 6.5. These students who get fellowship must spend 8 hours of assistance per week. Ques. What is the qualification criteria to get a PhD degree at NIPER Hyderabad?

Ans. After the completion of course work and research plan, the students must appear for the comprehensive examination and clear it. Minimum CGPA required to be scored is 6.0 and if the CGPA lies in between 6 and 6.5 students can take another course. In case if the students have CGPA less than 6 they must have to discontinue their degree.
