B.K Birla College of Arts, Science, and Commerce was established in the year 1972 by Kalyan Citizens’ Education Society in Thane, Maharashtra. The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and has been granted autonomous status by University Grants Commission (UGC). The college has been accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘A’.

The College has been awarded the ‘Best College Award’ (in the Urban category) by the University of Mumbai (2009) and also awarded the ‘IMC - RBNQ Performance Excellence Trophy - 2011’ in Education.
B.K Birla College is also a Centre for Yoga and Philosophy, Epigraphy and for Foreign Languages (under CE).
B.K Birla College of Arts, Science, and Commerce was granted ‘College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) status by UGC (2010) and presently granted ‘College of Excellence’ status (2015 - 2020).
The College ranked 4th in sports amongst all the affiliated colleges in the University of Mumbai (2018-19). 28 students have represented the college at National Level and won One Gold, Five Silver and One Bronze medals. 55 students have won medals at University Level (30 Gold, 13 Silver and 12 Bronze).
