Army Institute of Fashion and Design offers a total of three scholarships to its students i.e. ESSA Scholarships & PM Scholarships. AIFD Bangalore was established in 2004 and is running under the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES).

ESSA Scholarships
Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) has been reviewed and important aspects are enumerated in succeeding paras.
Eligibility Criteria for ESSA Scholarships
- Serving Army personnel children not attained 25 years of age at the time of completion of class/course from class IX to PG level of education studying in Govt/Recognised Private Educational Institutions.
- Wards of Retired Army Personnel, Territorial Army personnel (TA) and deceased Army personnel are not eligible.
Method of Selection for ESSA Scholarships

All children above cut-off percentages of marks would be awarded scholarships.
Rate of ESSA Scholarship
The rates of scholarships, based on the level of education for all categories are as under:

PM Scholarships
The Prime Minister's Scholarship Program was launched for the 2006–07 academic year. To support dependent wards of former Coast Guard and service members as well as their widows pursuing higher technical and professional education (below officer rank only). A total number of 5500 students will be selected equally for boys & girls (ie. 2750 each)
Eligibility for PM Scholarships
- Students studying in 2nd and subsequent years are not eligible.
- Students who are Dependent Wards / Widows of Ex Servicemen & Ex Coast Guard personnel who died in harness / disabled due to causes attributable to military service/coast guard service, irrespective of the rank.
- Dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only).
- Wards of Civilians including Para Military Personnel are NOT ELIGIBLE.
Priority for Grant of Scholarship
Order of preference for selection of candidates will be as under:-
Category 1 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel killed in action. |
Category 2 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard service. |
Category 3 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel who died while in service for causes attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service. |
Category 4 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service. |
Category 5 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards. |
Category 6 | Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel (PBOR Only). |
Amount of Scholarship
INR 2000 per month for boys and INR 2250 per month for girls. Paid initially on selection and subsequently on successful completion of Board/ University/ College/Institute Examinations each year without failure.
