The College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology was established in 2006 and it is situated in Ranipool, Sikkim. 

The institute is affiliated with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

CAEPHT Sikkim B.Tech Admission 2023

CAEPHT Sikkim B.Tech Eligibility Criteria:

  • The student should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Maths and Chemistry in their 10+2 level examination.
  • The students belonging to the SC/ST category are required to have scored a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate in the subject of Physics, Maths and Chemistry in their 10+2 level examination.
  • The student should have passed English in their 10+2 level examination.
  • The student must be 17 years of age on the date of admission which is 31st July 2021.
  • The student must be a permanent resident of the NEH region, namely the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Selection Criteria:

Admission to the course will be based on the performance in the Common Entrance Test conducted by either NER or ICAR.

How to Apply CAEPHT Sikkim B.Tech?

  • The student must write the Common Entrance Test that is conducted in their respective states. 
  • Based on the Merit List the student will be nominated by the college.

Documents required to carry at the time of admission are:

  1. Pass certificate and Marks Sheet of 10+2 level examination.
  2. Certificate of High School pass Examination for the proof of Date of Birth.
  3. Migration Certificate and Conduct Certificate from where the student studied last.
  4. College/School leaving Certificate from where the student studied last.
  5. Permanent Residency/ Domicile Certificate of the concerned state.
  6. For physical fitness, a Medical Certificate from a Medical officer not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon.
  7. Students of the reserved category should get their relevant category certificate from the required authorities.

Scholarships for B.Tech courses:

  • One merit scholarship of 1000 rupees will be awarded in the college for each year of UG study.
  • A student should have secured 60% aggregate marks in the relevant subjects for scholarship in the first year.
  • For the subsequent years, the awardee has to maintain a CGPA of 7.75/10.00 to continue winning the scholarship

The institute invites application for admission to the M.Tech course under 3 specializations. Admission to the course will be based on the marks secured in the test conducted by the Institute.

CAEPHT Sikkim M.Tech Eligibility Criteria:

  • The students must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned subjects from a recognized Board with an OGPA of 6.00 out of 10.00.
  • The students belonging to the category of SC/ST must have Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned subjects from a recognized Board with an OGPA of 5.50 out of 10.00.
  • Students applying for M.Tech in the specializations in Farm Machinery & Power Engineering and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering should have completed B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering.
  • The students applying for M.Tech in specializations in Food Engineering must have completed B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering/Food Process Engineering/Food Engineering/Food Technology.

CAEPHT Sikkim M.Tech Selection Criteria

  • The selection of students is solely merit-based.
  • The student must be a permanent resident of the NEH region, namely the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya.
  • All India Entrance Test (AIET) conducted by ICAR is also considered for admission in this college. 25% of the seats are reserved for ICAR students.
  • Out of the six seats, a few seats are reserved for SC. 

How to Apply for CAEPHT Sikkim M.Tech?

  • The application form for Master’s Degree programmes can be obtained from the Registrar, CAU, Dean of Constituent Colleges.
  • The students have to appear on the prescribed date and time for counseling.
  • Based on Merit, the student is issued an admission letter by The Registrar, CAU, Imphal.
  • The student should report to the Dean with the original documents, which shall be verified by the staff of the college.
  • The student is then prescribed the required fee and is admitted to the college. 

Required Documents:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree Certificate/Provisional Degree Certificate and relevant marks card.
  2. 10+2 level examination or equivalent certificate from a recognized Board in the Science stream.
  3. H.S.C Certificate/Equivalent certificate and Marks card.
  4. Migration, College leaving and Conduct Certificate from the college that the student studied last.
  5. Medical Certificate from a Medical officer.
  6. Reservation certificate from an authority for students belonging to the reserved category.

Scholarships for M.Tech courses

  • Two merit scholarships of 1500 rupees and 1200 rupees will be awarded to the students respectively based on their merit every month in each year.
  • For first years the performance in their undergraduate examination will be considered.
  • For the subsequent years, they have to maintain a CGPA of 7.75/10.00 to continue winning the scholarships.

FAQs

Ques. Are there hostel facilities available in this college?

Ans. The college has two hostels for girls and boys with a capacity of 92 and 120 respectively. They do not have a separate PG hostel.

Ques. Do students who come through ICAR also be a permanent resident of the NEH region?

Ans. No. ICAR students have different reserved seats in the seat matrix. These students need not belong to the NEH region.

Ques. Can students with no previous specialization in Food Engineering apply for M.Tech in Food Engineering?

Ans. The student can apply for M.Tech in Food Engineering if they have completed B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, Food Process Engineering or Food Technology.

Ques. Can students apply for M.Tech before the issue of a Bachelor’s Degree Certificate?

Ans. Yes. The college will accept a Provisional Degree Certificate from a recognized Board. The students are required to submit the original Bachelor’s Degree Certificate once they acquire it.

Ques. What courses have to be completed to apply for M.Tech in Farm Machinery & Power Engineering and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering?

Ans. The students should have completed B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering if they wish to apply for Farm Machinery & Power Engineering and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering.
