School of Open Learning, University of Delhi - [SOLDU]: 33 answered questions

Ques
What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Barsha Roy, on 22 Oct 21

Ans
The passing criteria is really low, achieving this will not be a problem. You have to score at least 33% in every subject, out of 75. If you successfully receive this score, you will clear your first year. If you scored lower than 33% in any one of the subjects, your promotion will be stopped. You then have to give ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is in your 2nd year. It is quite possible to give ER for only 4 subjects. If it was more than 4 then you will fail and have to repeat the year again.

Ques
Is DU SOL good?

● Top Answer By Rima Das, on 22 Oct 21

Ans
One of my friends graduated from DU SOL. According to him there are certain things you learn which will be beneficial for your career ahead. The important thing is you can get your degree as well as prepare for any competitive exam simultaneously.  If you need extra lessons, weekend classes are conducted.  You can also go through King Champion Guides and the last 10 years because it is the best to score good marks. CA, CS or CMA with Delhi university B.Com (H) degree will provide you a respectable job and also other similar opportunities. They have one of the best alumni networks. It is suggested that you go for DU SOL only if it's your remaining option. Because some reviews of the placements are not that good, also if you want to prepare for UPSC, do it without getting involved in a college schedule. Though the time is flexible, ultimately it is your choice.

Ques
Can a student be promoted next year in DU SOL even after failing in all subjects?

● Top Answer By Deepti Joshi on 15 Jun 22

Ans
No, you won’t be promoted to next year in DU SOL, if you fail in all subjects. You will have to repeat that year. You will be promoted to the next year if you fail in less than 50% of the examinations. You will have to take the back examination for those subjects next year.

Ques
What is the difference between SOL and regular college in DU?

● Top Answer By Divya Rohira on 28 Sept 21

Ans
There is no difference between the courses followed by SOL at the University of Delhi. However, once the semester system was started in the regular colleges under the University, some differences have been seen. There is nothing to worry about, though. The syllabus of SOL is good. The courses offered in SOL are year wise whereas the coursework of the regular colleges is semester-wise. SOL is basically for those candidates who are also employed. All the processes are carried out online. It offers courses like M.A., M.Com, B.Com (Hons.), etc.

Ques
Can I get admission into SOL DU from a Regular DU in my 2nd year?

● Top Answer By Vijay Srivastava on 28 Sept 21

Ans
Unfortunately no, there is no provision for transfer from SOL to a regular college at University of Delhi. It is so because SOL is an institution in itself, like any other college. You can try to migrate into some other college but you will not be granted admission if your scores in SOL exams are not very high. The students of SOL are often looked down upon when compared to regular colleges. Your marks will be scrutinized before you are allowed to migrate to the college. Most students are turned down because that would mean an increase in the workload.
