I choose this college because I wanted to do something else as well side by side and start earning as soon as possible. I did apply for different colleges but I personally didnt wanted that college life so I decided not to pursue their further. The admission process in SOL is pretty simple. You have to fill a form and choose the course. You should have that subject in class 11 and 12 th only then you're eligible for the course. After that you have to pay the fees for an year.
The course curriculum is mainly same as that of what I studied in class 12th. The only difference is that it is depth. The curriculum is relevant to and is comprehensive as well. The curriculum itself does not prepare you for real world applications, you have to prepare extra and find internships and put in effort. The course could have been improved if it was simple ro understand even for those who are studying psychology for the first time. The exams are not that difficult and timings are also as they should be so there is no issue in that.
There are no scholarships available but they do provide financial aid to students who score above 8 CGPA. But surprising not even student could get above 8 CGPA in the first year. They also promise to shift the students to regular college if there performance is exceptional.
There is no campus life in SOL. You have classes once a week from 10-4 and. The infrastructure is pretty bad specially in summers, even the fans don't work and there are too many students in one class so it's pretty hard to manage. Books and study material are provided after taking an appointment. They are good condition. There are no groups or clubs in SOL. Also there are no extracurricular activities.
The faculty of Psychology department is pretty educated, supportive and helpful. They do provide and help students with the best of their abilities but the system it self fails on its behalf, whether it's about distribution of study material, examination schedule or starting the new semester. Course Structure: 6 semester in total Classes on every Sunday Practical exams are taken online(usually 2 weeks before theory exams) Exam System There are both online and offline examination. Online examination is time limited and MCQ based. You have to login through pragyan portal of du to take the examination. Offline exam is of 3 hours. centre and dates are provided in datesheet. Marking schemes : You are marked based on both online and offline exams. If you have compartment in any subject, you can give the paper again in the alternative semester.
Placement it's all depends upon u how much u r doing hardwork. We know that not everyone get placements there will be some students who will get placements so count yourself in those students u will definitely get placements and try doing different activities during your college like internships etc . Definitely u will get placements
As my course is SOCIOLOGY HONOURS this course needs a lot of field work which is not properly conducted by the college and i think that should be changed but still because of the professors it becomes easy to make the most out of the disciplines that you are choosing.
Studying Philosophy at Kamala Nehru College is great for learning, but it doesn't lead to a job right after graduation. It's perfect for those who want to study further or pursue a career they're passionate about. Scope for improvement: - Help students explore career options - Provide internships for practical experience - Connect students with professionals in related fields
There are a large amount of course you can choose from in the school of open learning. I personally chose English honours as I was interested in the literature and mythological stories. The curriculum doesn't give you any exposure as there are classes only in Sundays so all the weekend you're on your own. I would suggest to improve the availability of the teachers and fix the teacher to students ratio
