Regional Institute of English, established in 1963, is a government institute which works under the purview of Chandigarh administration. The institute works in collaboration with English and Foreign University (EFL-U), Hyderabad and is affiliated to Panjab University.
Regional Institute of English offers RIE certificate in Personal Development program as an Undergraduate (UG) course. MA (English) is offered as Postgraduate course whereas, PGCTE (Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching of English), CTOSS (Chandigarh Training on Soft Skills) are offered as certificate program along with some short-term courses and International courses.

Admission to MA program is done on the basis of PUCET entrance examination.
- For PGCET, admission is given on the basis of first cum first serve basis.
- Minimum eligibility for PGCET is MA (English) or B.Ed. (English) from a recognized university.
- Candidate must have passed Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 50% marks from recognized university for admission to MA course.
- Admission to certification courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
- For certification course, candidate must be an undergraduate or must be an in-service teacher.
