Loyola College BSc Admission 2023 is going to open soon. Selections for Admission is done on a merit basis through candidates’ scores in 10+2 followed by an interview process. Loyola College B.Sc. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc. course offered at Loyola College, Chennai shall fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

Students who have completed the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Education Board Examination or its equivalent with Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics are eligible for admission to the B.Sc. program.
For Admission to B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry or Maths: Must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
For Admission to B.Sc. in Advanced Zoology & Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology & Plant Biology: Must have passed 10+2 with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry or Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics / Biotechnology.
For Admission to B.Sc. Statistics: Must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects.
For admission to B.Sc. Visual Communication: Must have passed 10+2 in any stream or equivalent examination.
For B.Sc. Computer Science Admissions: Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Statistics.

Loyola College B.Sc. Admission Criteria

The selection of the candidates is done on a merit basis through candidates’ scores and subjects selected in 10+2 followed by an interview process.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal Interview.
The final selection will be based on the performance in Personal Interview and qualifying examination scores.

How to Apply?

Visit the official website of the Loyola College @loyolacollege.edu.
Log on to the ‘Online Application Portal’.
Register by entering the personal details such as applicant name, date of birth, mobile number, email id, etc. after which credentials will be sent to your email ID.
Log in and fill in other basic details.
Choose the courses to apply to Shift-I or Shift-II separately from the list of eligible courses. The applicant can apply for more than one course in one shift or both shifts.
Attach the scanned copies of the necessary supporting documents. Make sure that the documents should not surpass the size of 200 kb.
Now press the “Apply” button.
Pay the application fee through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. The cost of application fees for UG programme (BSC) is Rs 150 for General Candidates and Rs. 123 for SC/ST Candidates.
Finally, take a printout of the filled application form and receipt of fee submission for future reference.

One of my friends graduated from Loyola College and here are some of the things I got to know from him. This information might answer your question. Firstly, have a community certificate and good scores. Secondly, it depends on the kind of program you're looking for. For instance, VISCOM is the only program that has an entrance exam and personal interview. All other programs are on a merit basis where the cut-off varies from department to department. Only B.Com and BBA departments have strict cut-offs. The rest of the departments should accept average applicants provided you have a caste certificate. You might think it is merit, but no. You need to be a catholic, that's the first requirement. If you are a Roman Catholic that's an added advantage. They prefer Christians though they do admit students from other belief systems or religions that only account for around 10 to 20% of admission where they consider your scoring.

Freedom- MCC offers a lot of freedom to its students in the way they dress and express themselves as compared to Loyola. Even for attendance, it is not as strict as Loyola. Loyola asks its students to pay for condonation and then sit for an exam. Ragging- It is still very much prevalent at MCC and sometimes it crosses the healthy limit as well. On the other hand, ragging is very rare at Loyola. Drug scene- MCC is infamous for its drug-related incidents. While enrolling their children, parents are quite worried about this. On the other hand, Loyola does not have such a problem. Campus- Both the campuses are extremely beautiful with an amazing experience of studying in the college. College life- When it comes to cultural and extracurricular activities, MCC is more active as compared to Loyola. They conduct a lot of fests and different events which offer its students a lot of opportunities. Here is a brief overview of the institutes. Category Loyola MCC Companies Visited MRF, Infosys, TCS, etc. Deloitte, TCS, Wipro, etc. Average CTC 3.5 lakh 2.31 lakh Highest CTC 5.2 lakh 3.5 lakh Therefore, it depends completely on what you want out of your college. If you want a good college life then you should opt for MCC. But if you want good academics then you should opt for Loyola. The answer to this question depends on what you want to do. I have a few friends from Loyola College, Chennai, and here is what they have to say about the institute. Loyola has really good professors and a vast library with huge collections of books. It also has a digital library and conducts national-level symposiums. The placement office is amazing and a lot of different companies from diversified fields come to the campus. In the last placement drive, the highest CTC offered was 5 LPA. Loyola has a policy of 80% attendance. It also has a compulsory club of 60 hours during the first year and there are a lot of options to choose from – NCC, NSS, FOP, Loyola dream team, AICUF, Rotaract, Radio, LPA, Debate Club, etc. Even after all of this, certain students have arrear and do not like to study. They just want to enjoy themselves and do not enroll in any club, do not use the library at all. Overall, the college is good but it is up to you to make the most of your time there.

A few years back, ragging was quite prevalent in Loyola. It was not harsh and usually ended after one or two months of college. The students are sometimes asked to duck walk across the campus roads or buy beers for their seniors. In 1994, when the college had opened, ragging went above board. There was a massive crackdown and a lot of students who were involved got suspended for at most two weeks. Since then, there has not been much ragging at Loyola. Security has been leveled up and nothing of this sort has taken place since then. The hostel arena still has a little bit of ragging but nothing is that serious, worst comes to worst, you’ll just have to run errands for your seniors. The campus also has an ani-ragging committee, where you can complain if you face any sort of ragging.
