Is Loyola College in Chennai very strict?
Posted On - Sep 29, 2021Loyola College has a few rules regarding attendance and usage of cell phones on campus. Students are required to maintain at least 80% attendance. Usage of Cell phones is prohibited during lectures and in the library. Although the college doesn’t have a uniform, students are expected to dress decently. Carrying student ID is mandatory.
As long as you don’t bunk too many lectures or get on the wrong side of professors, you shouldn’t face much trouble.
One of my cousins graduated from Loyola College. According to him, there are some rules which can come across as strict, while others are totally lenient.
An attendance of 80% is compulsory. Most faculty do not care much about the student’s presence in the class. But if they are in class, they are supposed to maintain discipline, ignoring which the faculty will take strict actions.
Cellphones are not allowed in class, not allowed in the library, not allowed in the Digital Library, and not allowed in the reading room too. The campus is free of ragging.
Being an institute run by the Jesuits (a Roman Catholic order), Loyola College has a pretty rigorous disciplinary code that one would expect for any Catholic educational institute.
