  • Statistics is the science of learning from data. Statisticians figure out what data they need, how to collect that data, how to analyze and interpret it, and how to report their conclusions.
  • Students will learn the foundations of mathematical statistics with application to areas such as mining data for information and measuring uncertainty in experiments and surveys.

  • Students completing an accredited list of courses will satisfy the education requirements of the Associate Statistician professional designation (A.Stat.) conferred by the Statistical Society of Canada.
  • In this program, students will learn statistical theory and methodology as well as the necessary mathematical foundations. 
  • The student-faculty ratio of the program is 35:1 and students can also prepare for graduate studies in statistics.
  • Students will gain practical expertise by analyzing data and working on real-world problems in project courses and the capstone course with the professors, who work on big data, biostatistics and bioinformatics, and statistical machine learning.
