York University accommodation provides housing options for all students at its Keele and Glendon campuses. Keele campus offers 8 residences with various lifestyles, facilities, resources, and programs for shared or private room accommodation. Glendon campus, a small bilingual university, offers unique living opportunities with two residence buildings housing 400+ students.
Living on a university campus is something different. It gives you the opportunity to meet new people from different cultures and regions. However, while studying at York University, it is not compulsory for students to live on campus. Many students choose to live off-campus, usually in a flat or house in the city. They can opt to live alone or share a space with other students, depending on their personal preferences and financial situation.
York University Accommodations: On-campus Housing
Students living on York's Keele or Glendon campuses, whether undergraduate or graduate, would be within walking distance of anything they want.
York's Keele campus is like a small city in and of itself, with stores, sports and leisure facilities, art galleries, parks, green spaces, restaurants, cafés, and pubs, while York's Glendon campus provides a more intimate university experience in the Lawrence Park neighborhood of midtown Toronto.
York University accommodation offers diverse housing options for students, including shared housing known as "residence" which is preferred by many undergraduates. Living in residence eliminates the need for food shopping and cooking, and the company of peers can make the adjustment to university life and live in a foreign country smoother.
York University Accommodation: Keele Undergraduate Residence
The Keele Campus has eight undergraduate residences. The majority of the buildings, which house about 250 students, are set up in a traditional style, with regular double and single rooms sharing shared washrooms and lounge areas.

York University Accommodation: Off-campus Housing
Finding suitable off-campus housing can be a daunting task for many students, and it can be particularly challenging for international students who may be unfamiliar with the city. One helpful starting point is to consider neighborhoods in the "Downtown" and "Midtown" areas of the city, which are popular with York students who choose to live off-campus. These areas offer many student-friendly businesses and housing options, as well as easy access to the Yonge-University subway line.

NOTE: York University cannot guarantee the suitability of any off-campus accommodation, and students are advised to exercise caution when renting non-York housing. Before agreeing to rent, we strongly advise you to visit the neighborhood during the day and evening hours, meet the owner, and inspect the house. Taking the time to do so will allow you to make informed decisions about important issues such as neighborhood safety, accessibility, lighting, and upkeep.
