  • The last date to accept the admission offer for Fall 2023 Juris Doctor (Law) program is March 31, 2023. To secure a spot, a deposit of CAD 1000 is required which will be covered in the tuition fees at the beginning of classes in September.

University of Alberta Work-Study Programs

International students at U of A may be permitted to work-study in Canada depending upon their registration status and location of employment. They do not require a work permit to work on-campus or off-campus while studying. The various student employment options among international students include: 

  • Work On-Campus: The students carrying a valid study permit can work within the boundary of the UAlberta Edmonton Campus, Enterprise Square, South campus, Campus Saint-Jean and North Campus. 
  • Work Off-Campus: Off-campus, full-time work opportunities in academic, vocational, and professional training programs are available for students. Students must have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work off-campus. Under this program, students can:
    • Work for 20 hours a week and full-time during school breaks.
    • Work full-time if they have completed their program and have applied for a master's before the permit expires.

Students who require Co-op as a part of their program will require a co-op work permit. Also, ELP, Open Studies, Special and visiting students are not eligible for working off-campus.
